Raw will not cause constipation. You will keep more nutrients giving raw.
While 1 is the norm when not in shedding season, you might can give the yoke more frequently. Maybe someone will advise as to the limit.

Is there a maximum daily amount of bone meal powder that is considered safe?
I was just reading general information on a human medical website about Pancreatin. It said that too much can cause colon damage. It seems to help with the blood in the stools [IBD] but I don't want to pour fuel on the fire. Thoughts?
Is there a brand of Pancreatin that does not contain ingredients about which you can find countless warnings?

I would be afraid to use anything that my vet did not prescibe---and sometimes leary of that. I know my daughter got a digestive enzyme off internet for her schnauzer(pancreatitis) and was sprinkling it on top her food and giving it her---just like it said. Vet told her it had to be mixed and let set for, I think, 20 min or it would eat her pancreas. I do not know if that is a digestive enzyme.

Egg give raw. One egg a week during most of the year, 2 a week during shed. Instead of pancreatin, I used pancreatic enzymes, lamb based. Now brand is a good one. Bonemeal powder should only be given during transition to a raw diet, or the odd time if stools need a bit of bulking. No more than 3/4 of a tsp per 8-10 oz of meat for soup, and just a sprinkle for looser stools once in a while. Too much can cause constipation, and/or contribute to bladder stones or hypercalcemia.

When transitioning from Carnivore Care to raw, how does one know how much to reduce the CC based on the amount of raw fed? Is there some sort of formula?
Any other pearls of wisdom about this transition?

Thanks, abbytheferret6. I agree 100%. My vet doesn't know about digestive enzymes. I've asked.

Thanks, Sherry. When I did a search for Now pancreatic enzymes, it brought up Pancreatin, which is porcine. When I added lamb-based to the search, it showed me every brand except Now.
I was using the bone meal powder to try to firm up her stools in hopes that that would eliminate the blood. I gave 1/8 tsp. once a day for a couple of days then noticed her twitching. I was afraid that was an indicator of hypercalcemia so I stopped. I have been trying to do what I can to mitigate any permanent damage until I get a mentor and start the switch to raw. The blood was really heavy last evening. She was only on 1/2 tsp. of kibble with Carnivore Care. During the night I reached my breaking point and stopped the kibble completely. She's only on Carnivore Care now.

For now, as it is SO bad, I would give her 1 tsp of pumpkin with each meal for 3 days. That will absorb excess fluid and bulk the stools. She will likely need to be on high dose, short term pred as well to reduce the inflammation. Carafate before each meal also to coat the tummy as it is going to be causing her pain.

Has anyone used the Caisse's Tea Herbal Tea Essiac Formula by Natural Energy Plus?
Is there any particular brand of CoQ10 that anyone recommends?

Sounds interesting. Organic chai tea going on here. Do like a smoothie with Stoneyfield yogurt, slice of ginger, clove of garlic, and grapefruit juice, dash of red pepper, and little tumeric root.(somewhere i read tumeric might give heart papitations) I used to get nature-made products. They have a recall on some things tho www.pharmavite.com/MediaCenter/MC_PR.asp?ID=237EDIT: NOT A SMOOTHIE FOR FERRETS:) NOR CHAI

Thanks, abbeytheferret6. What are you using the chai tea for? Are you giving your ferrets smoothies?

This was from a previous thread: I read over the information on the Hai Lin Pian, and its very interesting! Since Chia has lymphoma, with swollen lymph nodes, would that not make her condition worse by spreading the cancer even more? Read more: holisticferret60.proboards.com/search/results#ixzz4DrBEkrfQI did not see a reply. Does anyone know the answer to that question?

HAHAHA these are for hoomans-----sorry should have made the connection with above posts u giving ferrets coq 10? Did read where some are giving dregs from the tea u mentioned to their animals. But I am wary about giving things like herbs---sorry I have never heard of giving coq 10 to animals, so that threw me off. I thought it was mainly for human heart health Terribly sorry about your little one.
