it really varies with them day to day which is why i was asking they were eating a ton and then not finishing meals and now they are back to finishing meals.

Weighing and recording it will make it easier. You will begin seeing a pattern.

Just checking in, how are things going? You should be logging here how much of what they have eaten everyday, if you had to bribe them to get them to eat and if they had any treats. You don't have to post here everyday but I would like at least every couple of days with a full run down please.

Minnie refuses to eat when i give her chunks she won't take any from my hand and she will not take any off the plate. and since i cant be here all day everyday i don't know how much she is eating when i'm not home or if she is eating at all i watch her and she ignores it when it isn't soupie. Binxie just goes back and fourth with the chunks she puts them in her litter pan and then grabs more and just makes a pile in their. I didn't give them any food over night two days ago and they were out of food around 7p.m. and then i gave them chunks in the morning Minnie didnt touch it and binxi ate about half of it. Then at night i gave them the same amount of only chunks again and Minnie wouldn't eat it she was just licking the plate where the blood was and binxie really didn't eat it either and I caved in the morning since i knew i wasnt going to be home much and gave them soupie so i knew Minnie ate and i didn't have to worry. I did this for the am and pm on 4/18. for each meal i gave them .5 oz. of liver 2 hearts (.6 oz) .7 oz of gizzard and a tiny pinch of eggshell in the pm meal. 4/19 They ate about 10 oz of soupie. they finished 4 oz in the morning so i gave them two more and they licked it clean again and then at night i gave them four more and they ate it all.
4/20 They ate 4 oz in the am. then i gave them 2 oz with about 4 oz of chicken chunks. (they didn't finish it)
today 4/21 i gave them 4 oz of just chicken thigh in the am so far and they havens touched it except for binxie sticking a few chunks in the litter pan.

This is part of the reason we request weights and pictures every week during the beginning of a transition. It helps to reassure the little stubborn ones are eating. Not all ferrets like to eat in front of people or at the same time. All ferrets however are smart enough to figure out that if they wait long enough their human servants will cave in and give them what they want. Binxie just goes back and fourth with the chunks she puts them in her litter pan and then grabs more and just makes a pile in their. She is just saving it for later when she can eat in private. I didn't give them any food over night two days ago and they were out of food around 7p.m. and then i gave them chunks in the morning Minnie didnt touch it and binxi ate about half of it. She is a smart cookie and I think she is playing you. 4oz of soup?then i gave them 2 oz with about 4 oz of chicken chunks. (they didn't finish it) How many oz were left and was it just the chunks?today 4/21 i gave them 4 oz of just chicken thigh in the am so far and they havens touched it except for binxie sticking a few chunks in the litter pan. How much did they eat?I can't say it enough, persistence and patience are key to the success of a switch. You are doing great, really. It is not an easy thing to with hold something they like and I know you are doing what you can and only want to the best for them!

I just weighted them as well and they both gained weight! even my tiny girl Minnie she now weighs 1 pound 11 oz and Binxi weighs 1lb and 14 oz. I know i am trying to work with her as much as i can right now. I am currently in college and these last few weeks have been h*ll to say the least lol. But I am trying hard to get her to eat chunks. i hand feed, i try and add soup on top of it, i stick only chunks in the cage she just is fighting it. Once college is done next week ill be able to give her a lot more attention and be able to hold off on giving soup longer because i will be able to watch her more closely right now im not home except at night which is when they get their last meal and get their dinner, and i dont want her to stop eating and for binxi to eat everything and me not realize she isnt eating enough because im not home.
i was thinking of separating them to to feed them and leave them separated when im not home and the food is in the cage? would that be mean to do because they like the company of one another and cuddle when they sleep?

I would not separate them all day. It is good for them to have each other for company. I don't think she will stop eating and I think she may be eating more then you realize. The weights are a good indicator she is getting what she needs and possibly even more hehe. Having said that though I do not see any harm in waiting only one more week until you are done with school before you become really tough with her.

yeah i figured I just don't know how many chunks she was eating because i wasn't home to watch and when i put the cubes back in there the following day they both ate three times as much as they usually do so i felt they both didnt eat as much as they needed and i wasnt here to push them too.

Don't forget soup is mostly water so when they are eating solids they do tend to eat less because they are actually getting more food instead of water. You really shouldn't have to push them once they start to eat something. They are pretty good at self regulating and tend to eat what they need. Of course everyone has favorites and will eat more of that then anything else I think but they still tend to eat what they need of everything else though.

okay sounds good i did try and leave the chunks in the cage again yesterday when in went to work and they ignored it and just demolished the soup when i took the chunks out. Although Minnie now takes and stashes the meat instead of completely ignoring it which is a plus. Binxie eats what she wants and then starts a stash pile in the litter pan.

Yup they are definitely holding out for the soup. You will have to start building yourself up now I think to be strong enough to take the soup away from them completely and just do the chunks in a week.

yeah that seems best lol they are being stubborn i just make myself feel bad by thinking how hungry they are and cave. i know logically that if their hungry enough they will eat the chunks but i still cave lol.

You can do it, keep reminding yourself they have GAINED weight so they are certainly getting what they need and more.

well i had three left over hearts so before giving them their dinner I cut it up and gave it to them and between the two of them they ate it no problem.
