I did buy a female fancy mouse (meant to be a breeder mouse for my ferrets--- no male yet. Got to get use to having a live mouse in my house much less a whole pile of them) ' don't mind frozen ones.
Anyway, I was trying to make some food for her using food that we eat. I noticed the mouse food seems to be a mix of corn and soybeans---not a fan of either of those ingredients. So if anyone knows anything I would appreciate their input. My home-made mix is barley, quinoa, steel cut oats and a carrot or a apple piece. I tried kiwi, but it was left behind. Everything else is eaten.

I have rats, but their diet requirements are similar. I'm the same way, I don't like a lot of the ingredients in rat/mouse food. I feed a small amount of the lab blocks, mostly just for them to have something to chew on and keep their teeth healthy. I do the same seed mix, but I also add chia seeds and coconut oil. Sometimes I mix the chia seeds with honey as a treat (real, pure honey). They also get fresh fruits and vegetables daily. I know some people do the lab blocks as the main diet and do fruits and verges as treats but I do it the other way around. Limited blocks and their main diet is fresh foods and a seed mix I make myself.
