My scale died, I should have weighed him at Kaylas :/ Do you guys think he will be okay to meet the others by now? They have separate cages but as I live in an apartment I havent been able to do a complete quarantine. He was supposed to have his vet appointment this week but I had to reschedule for next week. Hes a young Marshals kit so he has been vetted within the last month or two. He is very small, Id guess 8-9weeks old but hes scrappy! He likes to play with humans, he likes to wrestle with hands. I think hes going to be another alpha. I dont know how Kayla's Chaos and Sheldon will feel about that lol They're currently in battle for leader of the business. Sheldon-who is half Chaos' age-now weighs the same as our older guys. And Roscoe,Kayla's rescue who had been skin n bones with coarse fur, now weighs on par with the others and his coat is silky soft. Hes looking d*mn good for his condition, were very happy about his progress <3 Here are pictures of my new cage/Aris & Arya's cage.

Ill copy over this weeks menu today. And poop pics. Our original 5 have had runny poos all week. Weve increased bone meal and now either Aris or Arya is starting to have chalky poo but its still runny. Oh jeeze. Theyre still being brats about organs. Theyve taken to stashing the bits of organs that are solid enough to be carried off. "If mom thinks we ate it, she will give us something tasty!" Its been a battle of wills. Kayla's will cave and eat it. Aris & Arya dont care about skipping meals and let it rot and get mad when I just put a fresh organ mix in there. For now Im going back to soupies to be sure theyre each eating a balanced meal. Next payday Kayla and I are ordering 80lbs of whole grounds from MyPetCarnivore and that will eliminate the "Im just gonna pick it out" problem. That brings me to the question-How do we balance those meals? Their whole grounds should be balanced already, right? "10% to 15% bone, about 10% organs, and the rest muscle and fat and connective tissue. That is Mother Nature's model and therefore our model ratio for all of our Whole Ground products." is what the website says. Would be still feed heart/organ days?

We have noticed that most of the ferrets' fur is yellowing a bit. That is a diet issue, right? What are we doing wrong? It's hard to catch pictures because it doesn't really show in pictures but I will certainly try

I would need pics of this runnier poos and yellowing fur. It is really hard to tell anything based soley on description.
Can you please give me a link to this ground food?
Giving grinds is a step back. And when you will want them to eat chunks and even bones, we will have to go back from the begining. They are now in a phase in which they will "forget" that they once eate chunks and bones. If you guys would still like to feed them frankenprey, than I would suggest not doing this ... I know is pain in the a** when they don't eat everything, but that is how it works. And with so many ferrets we will see differences - some will eat everything from the start, while others will need more time.
And please take some pics of bone in meat pieces. i would like to see how big they are.
Has little one been checked at the vet? If yes, and he is healthy, you can put them together. I would suggest, that you do it first with your two and than with Kayla's rascals.
Menue is ok, except we need more organs. Now we only have liver and nothing else. If they are not eating organs, we can go a step back only here and give them organ soupy (you can mix organs + heart).

Poos are back to normal, at least for my guys. Even Ras poos are normalizing from the switch.
I realize the grinds are a step back but it's hard to keep track of who's actually eating the organs and who's just skipping the meals. I want to be sure they're getting a complete diet. I went back to liver because they stopped eating any other organ. Even if I feed the meal over and over, Aris & Arya will just not eat. I'd rather stick to grinds then have someone have an imbalance on frankenprey :/
Ra (the new dude) doesn't have such hang ups. Tummy with teeth will decimate anything. He has been vetted but I didn't get him a follow up distemper shot yet because I figured hes so young and new from the pet shop that he's had his last one recently. The vet said 3 distemper shots in 1 year like the Petco pamphlet said is rediculous and 1 is good for the year. The next appointment they all get their rabies shots.
Dropped baby (Ra) in with Aris & Arya and the meeting was incredibly uneventful. Ra said "Dook dook! Friends!!!" Aris ignored the heck out of him until he was lured into wrestling and Arya was like "Another boy? Ugh" and ignores him. They all slept together though.
I'm getting my phone fixed soon so I will have a decent camera again and wont have to borrow some one elses for all these pics.
They decimate frog legs and even most of cornish hen. Whole chick is a favorite snack and gets eaten completely but the guys are lazy about finishing chicken bones, even when crushed.

Since you are having a problem pretty much only with organs, my suggestion would be that we first try organ/heart soupie. This way they will still get their needed organs, but will eat everything else as they eat now.
If they eat frog's legs, they can eat chicken bones too. Which chicken bones do they eat and which they don't? Is there a difference what they do with wings, ribs or with tight bones? Can you get quial? What about rabbit bones?

They will eat crushed quail and rabbit. They get lazy about chicken drummettes and wings though Arya easily polished one off yesterday. I think it's laziness because I've seen em all eat bones before and they will eat it if I delay their next meal. Heart/organ soupies it is!
Ra's introduction to raw and other ferrets was as easy as the others had been. I think we have a really chill group of ferrets here lol

Oh, if they eat this kind of bones, there is really no worry We will just slowly upgrade it to bigger ones Yes, let's try with organ/heart soupie. There is nothing wrong if they get their organs in soupie form, since they chew chunks and bones they do get the benefit of raw for oral hygiene

Sorry, I hadn't realized how long it's been. Current weights as of yesterday: Ra 1lbs 13oz Aris 2lbs 6oz Arya 1lb 12oz Roscoe 2lbs 12oz Chaos 2lbs 9oz Sheldon 2lb 12oz We bought over 100lbs of woozle food from MyPetCarnivore. Whole ground Emu, duck, beef, and chicken. Goat testicles. Also have wild perch and salmon, whole Cornish hen (to offer crushed bones), frog legs, veal, like 5 proteins of meat chunkies, brains. Lamb, beef, and chicken livers and pancreas. Lamb and beef lung. Heart of everything. Whole chicks and mice. The list goes on, really. Spoiled brats... I'm not too concerned about going fully whole prey. Were breaking up the grinds with whole chunk days for the non bone days and when the poos look like they need less bone. Organ days are now grinds because they're too picky, though I don't know how much organ they need now with whole grounds. Here's a link to the whole grounds we use: www.mypetcarnivore.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=15&virtuemart_category_id=13&lang=enAdvice on how to balance their diet using the grounds and the rest if what we have is appreciated. I have a pretty good idea. This last week was a modge podge of what we had left until the order came in. I'll get with kayla and give you a 2 week menu which will be altered depending on what yall say about balancing the grinds and organs. Btw, Ra fit in seamlessly. Hes a scrappy little thing which delights Aris and Chaos. He also seeks out human attention and likes to hand wrestle. Arya still pouts that she's the only girl but we've reached maximum ferret capacity. I find it astounding that Arya is one of our most laid back ferrets, she won't even chase a cat toy, but she's the most efficient live prey killer. Aris will murder a cat toy (goes strait to sever the string) but isn't too interested in live. Aris is also my ambassador ferret; he's the only one I trust around kids faces at the park. Arya likes to Lick, Lick, CHOMP on noses and ears. I'm pretty sure half of the time Arya is grooming me, she's just sizing me up to see if she could get away with hunting me. She gets rough about it sometimes lol

Their weight fluctuates a bit, but i would not worry, this are not really big changes. As long as they eat and act normaly, I would just assume summer weight change. Wow, this is a pretty nice meat stash. How big is your freezer? This ground is ok - it is actually a balanced one. Tough, as you said, you can "dilute" it with some meat if you find it too high in bones. It is actually pretty easy to fit those whole grinds or whole prey meals in a schedule. Kind guys from this forum have made a nice little table so no one ever has to do any calculations. I can not find a thread on the forum, but here is a link to a website (it is the same table). balancing frankenprey with alternative meals As you figured out alternative meal = either whole prey meal or balanced comercial grind. Than you just see how many of this alternative meals you plan in a week and adjust other meals So, when you two will make a plan, send it for review. Actually, girls are most of the time just fine with boys company. They are like little princesses among all those boys (but on the other hand always being ready to kick their asses if needed ). All ferrets are different, some like to cuddle, some don't, some just groom, some do what Arya does. It is all normal. It is just important that you know your wozles and can predict what someone will do - like you don't trust Arya with kids. We are getting two new girls soon - one will come from same breeder as Gusztav and i am getting her at the end of the month. For other I will have to wait a bit longer, since I am importing her from UK and they obviously changed their laws last year and we can't get a passport before she is 3 mths old and than she falls under rabies prevention regulations - by which all animals above 3 mths of age have to be vaccinated and we have to wait 28 days for vaccination to be valid So, I am getting her in the beginig of August instead now
