Original thread: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=6855Buffy's (foxfire) Blister Before and After I fed the gang early Monday morning to find Buffy with a fairly big blister looking thing on her shoulder. It was just like a blister you get from a burn. We checked it out, could find no reason for it, nor did I have any idea what it was. She was in good health still and not in any obvious pain. When I got home from work, it was very big and firm, so I took some photo's of it. After a quick chat on Skype with forum members, and showing the photo's, we decided to take her to the vet. The vet said they are not unusual, and has seen them on dogs & cats, and does not know why or what causes them. He said if it does burst, then it will fill up again and they will keep coming back, so the best thing is to remove it. So she had a minor surgery, he shaved her shoulder and he cut it off, then cut out the remaining bad tissue, then cauterized it with some liquid stuff that looked similar to iodine. She was a very brave little girl, and only cried once when he lanced the blister, then she sat still and let him do his job like a true little lady. She never bit or wriggled or complained, I was so proud of her. Anyway, now it is looking good and healing nicely. After: Ok, I got a photo of how nice it is healing. It has helped that she is not bothered by it, she never scratches it, so it has helped the healing process. She has been such an amazingly good little girl through out it all. I am a very proud ferrent.. and yes, she is 1st on the list for a nail clip on Saturday, they grow soo fast. Looking so good, recovering from her babies well now. She has got that beautiful sparkle back in her eyes, and the gloss back in her coat. She is 2 years old next month..

Ear Hematoma Original thread: Percy's Ear: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=4768My ferret Percy suffered from an ear hematoma that caused the external parts of his ear to swell to 2x their normal size. The vet tried to drain the mass but discovered that instead of fluid, the ear had developed into cartilage and will remain the size it is for the rest of his life. It doesn't negatively effect him at all but it does make it difficult for the ear to stay clean naturally. He instructed me to clean it regularly and said that there shouldn't be any future related problems. This is my best attempt at getting a picture of the affected ear.. my camera sucks.

Skin Problem Original Thread: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=3562So I wash this discoloration off his head and neck with just warm water and it slowly comes back in two weeks. He does seem to itch a bunch in those spots because he gets the discoloration on his toes. One of the vets even had me try a medicated shampoo and I knew it would never work but tried it anyway. Here are some pictures below. Please let me know if anyone else has this problem

Mast Cell Tumor Original Thread: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=3471Trouble turned up with one of her common mast cell tumors today. It's hard to tell in the photo but the area is slightly raised. I think I noticed it right away this time; there was lots of fresh blood. The picture is after I cleaned it up and dabbed aloe on it. As if they don't look bad enough, I notice that they seem to clot really slowly... I made her a bowl of soup and held a kleenex to it until it stopped, and ten minutes later it was hardly visible. So when they appear black or crusty, it's just the scabby dried blood.
