jule's ferret Stitch Original Thread: I think Stitch Might be Adrenal: holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medicine&action=display&thread=5846After doing a lot of reading about Adrenal Disease I am almost convinced Stitch has it and I will probably be taking a vet visit but before I do I wanted to put this picture up and get some input. When he plays with Rufus he gets on top of him grabbing the back of his neck. (watched a vid about that being a sign) The first time he did it he shook his head and i had to get him off of Rufus concerned he was going to hurt him. He gets on top of him but isn't as aggressive now, and it doesn't last long, the hair loss is concerning me as well, it isn't getting better but seems to have stopped now. He eats fine goes to the bathroom fine, he seems a bit clumsy, always has been since i had him but I thought it was because he was overweight and he had all his fur then too.

Athena had no fur loss, simply behavioural change. She became very timid, rather than aggressive. I didn't get pics of Zeus' fur loss. It was on his paws. His toes started to become naked, and very dirty looking. Sinnead, I have pics of. When we got her(she's on the right): Before she started on lupron(note the hair loss on hips/tail): Following the lupron: Following spring shed(note the increased hair loss around the neck in the first pic, and the hips/tail in the second): Her fur loss has continued, and now it's quite thin on her entire body, but doesn't show up well in pictures. She is going to see the vet about having her lupron increased this month.

Craven Precious, she didn't have the large hair loss other then some thinning on her tail, mainly just itchy and more aggressive, this is her a couple days after her adrenalectomy, she lived another three years with no noticeable reoccurance of adrenal

This is Lady "B", the first couple of photos are of her just prior to her des implant. She was receiving melatonin oral but was no longer responding to this treatment (as you can see) This was her 4 weeks after her des implant. At first there didn't appear to be any improvement. She was starting to get these horrible bruise type marks on her skin but it turned out that it was just where the fur was growing in The last 2 photos were taken 6 weeks after the implant. As you can see her coat is improving. Her activity level is still poor, she still smells bad and her coat is still quite orange. I will post another couple of more recent photos that show that her coat has improved even more, her activity level is better and she's putting on weight again ciao

Wow her coat looks way better! Why is she all orange (and oily I assume) earlier? Is that typical with adrenal? I don't think I have seen it before..

Yes, the orange/yellow is classic hormone-related excess oils (rate tail/blackheads/etc.) Some intact hobs are very good at turning orange and being thin by the end of the breeding season.
