Good morning. I'm sorry I haven't posted. I seem to have picked up whatever my son had and am as sick as a dog. I feel awful.
Mavericks blood work came back looking good. I have to call Monday to make him an appointment at the cardiologist, seems our vet wants to rule out heartworms..maverick had really good days, no issues at all. But then other days he seems to have a lot of trouble breathing and makes a lot of weird breathing noises. I hope that we get to the bottom of this soon. It's going to be hard because our vet is now gone, the cardiologist will send her results to another vet at the practice (who is not an exotics) and then that vet will contact ours and go over the results. I'm not sure what will happen if weal strike out there. I don't know how we will proceed with no vet....this has all got me super stressed out.
Cheyenne and Granger are here, they got here last night...I have not be able to properly cuddle them due to being sick. Cheyenne is very nippy and Granger is a big teddy bear. They "met" the other ferrets through the cage last night..Granger tried to bite noses...dunno what that's about. Lol.
I admittedly have not been working with everyone as hard as I should be, with my son being sick all last week and then myself being sick. I don't want to get kicked out of the program or in trouble...with everything going on it's been all I can do to let out a few of the days. Hope I'm not introuble and all is okay.

Just got back from one of those express medical places...I've got the dreaded flu. Guess I'll be camping out on my couch for the next week.

i am so sorry it's been very hard for you recently... make sure you're not going near ferrets if you don't have to, put a mask on your face and wash your hands all the time bc ferrets can get the flu from you. drink lots of liquid (anything you like) and rest you won't be kicked out from the mentoring program, don't worry. if @poncesmom agree, i'd like you to take few days off the program until you get better and rest as much as you can. hugs to you and all your business <3

I hope you're feeling better now. Take what time you need to feel better. We're fine as long as we know why you aren't posting. I've been Spring cleaning and reorganizing so I've tried to stay away from the computer so I can avoid getting sucked into the fun stuff and organizing all my house junk. I just love getting rid of things. Not so much the house cleaning part but happily I have all kinds of helpers.

Thank you guys so much. I am still sick and running a fever. Thankfully my boyfriend has been here over the weekend to help with the ferrets. I have been washing my hands religiously and wearing a mask at all times. If I have to be around the ferrets. I've got a condition called Behçet's disease so I am now suffering a flair up of that as well...I'm not having an easy way with it..thank you for your understanding and patience while I try to get better.

Hey, sorry I haven't checked in. It's been an awful week. I'm still trying to shake being sick, I feel a ton better but have lingering symptoms. My Behçet's flair is what's caused me so much trouble. I'm still trying to get over that. I am now able to get up and walk around, I should be ready to get back into the swing of things in a few days. Thank you for being so patient with me.
Maverick has his appointment with the cardiologist today, I have an appointment myself today as well...I will update as soon as I find out results from Mavericks tests.

We have not heard back from our vet yet to find out what her plan is. The cardiologist said that Mavericks heart looks great, no issues. His lung function looks good, all pressure levels and everything are normal. She seems to think Maverick has asthma/chronic bronchitis. I wasn't aware that ferrets could have asthma? I guess it makes sense...just never heard of it. So we're really pleased with the results of the tests! We will hopefully hear back from the vets office soon, she said she was recommending inhalers for Maverick, I can't imagine trying to give inhaler treatment to a ferret!
I'll be going back to work tomorrow after being off for an entire week due to being sick, I've not been able to keep up with any house work and the cages need a good cleaning! My boyfriend is awesome with helping make sure everyone gets out time and is fed and has water and cleaning litter boxes...but, it ends there lol. I'm trying to get everything back together and then I will be ready to jump head first back into our switch. I have a 10 day vacation beginning Saturday and plan to/will make up for all of this lost time!
Again, thank you guys for being so awesome and patient, I hate to hold up this process!
ETA I'm also learning go work on this two play group thing. The babies are still much to small to be in with the big guys, they're caged separately and have a seperate play time. We do allow some interaction but the babies are very fiesty and our big guys are really rough with them. So we have to be right on top of them when they're all out together. Once they get some size on them things should fine! Everyone gets along...the big guys just play too rough.

I'm so sorry that you're still not feeling well but I'm glad that Maverick's heart looks good. An inhaler is interesting. Good luck with that and I meant that sincerely. I'm going to link a thread or two for you: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/20005/ferts-asthmaen.allexperts.com/q/Ferrets-2277/2010/11/Ferret-asthma.htmIf you need any help then let me know and I'll tag someone who's dealt with this for better advice. The babies will grow quickly and then you can have everyone together. I had to wait about two months for Mika to catch up so she could play with Roamy. They're great buddies now. Get yourself well and don't worry. We're here for you when everything settles down. :wave3:

@poncesmom, hope you had a great time! i have a new foster for over a week now, poor baby, he's having very strange poops, it's probably corona virus he's on 3 antibiotics and 2 stomach protectors, and his poops are improving a bit. he was refusing to eat for about 3 weeks before he came to me and lost his weight so he's only 950g. he's on raw soup from the first day here, he's eating like mad and i found him yesterday chewing cat's piece of turkey neck! :heehee: he's isolated from my ferrets, i let them out separate and have to desinfect all the floors constantly. we're preparing and ferretproofing kids room and planning to move him there, it will be much easier to me. he's sooo cute! and cuddly <3
