It has taken me too long to write this but it's just so hard to do. On November 28th 2015 @ 11:00 am, We had to put our little Zeus down Zeus has been battling insulinoma and Adrenal Disease for the past two years. We had him on Prednisolone and tried everything we could to ensure he could live a long and happy life. Unfortunately, less than a week before he passed we noticed he wasn't eating at all and was extremely lethargic. We took him to the vet where they gave him fluids from an IV and tried to bring his levels back to normal. This seemed to only have a temporary effect.
After 3 days of constantly seeing the vet and attempting to get him better, we realized that there isn't much more we could do. We spent Zeus' last night with him, all night. We kept him in a blanket with us in bed and constantly told him we loved him. Come 10:30 am we made the trip to the vet. When we arrived and uncovered the blanket for the vet to see him... he started to have a seizure. That was so hard to watch. We were there with him to the end, holding him and comforting him as he slipped away.
This is the first animal I have had such a bond with and the first one I have lost. It's truly one of the hardest things I've had to deal with. I wish there was more we could have done. He deserved to live so much longer. He was such a sweet boy. I only hope that he did not suffer.
We still have our girl Cyrus with us and she seems very healthy (except for the bronchitis). Although I believe she is starting to notice his absence lately. We will continue to give her much needed attention and love.
I will always remember you Zeus. I hope that we were able to give you a happy life, because to me that is the most important thing.
You were an amazing experience in our lives, that we would not trade for anything.
