Had 6 litters all needed to be cleared out today, froze 2 dozen, kept another 15 to grow up a bit and be snake food, and gave a couple to the cat and a bunch to the ferrets. All around 4 weeks old and 19-25 grams, this is the first time in over two years of mouse breeding I've had it line up for me to have extras, usually I don't have enough! Big part of that is only have 3 fuzzies now though, I had 7 when I started. I might need to cut back on my breeding colony or get another snake or two. Really want a hognose...

You could always let the majority reach adulthood, kill and freeze to feed more often.

I need more room to keep a bunch to maturity, I only have one larger tub, all the places around here sell really thin tubs that they chew through. I'm thinking I need to figure something out though. Although in mice "maturity" is considered another 2 weeks. Mainly I froze males, since I don't want them fighting or breeding their sisters.

Have you looked into the racks that Matt posted? No idea what sort of setup you have, or how much room ;D

Mine are in a closet, there's room for a rack system, but I'd have to order either tubs or cheap can litter pans in and it would be costly to do that too. I might have to look into it again and see if I can find some cheaper containers.
More fuzzies is out for now, I need to get debt paid down and my job is rather up in the air, too bad because there is 3 within a couple hours of me that I was looking at on petfinder and there is rarely any that close to me. But until things are more stable for us I don't want to add any, well I do want to, but you know. It is very strange having such a small crew around here.

I can believe it would be odd! But yeah, the rack system is the only thing I can think of right now to save you from some sever culling of your breeding stock. I gather no one around you feeds raw, or has snakes?

Far as I know I'm the only raw feeder around, I can't imagine I'm the only one with a snake though. I thought about putting up an ad, the local pet store closed so there is no place to go for feeders anymore. They were $4 a mouse anyways! I had one person interested in mice in a nearby town but never heard from her again, got love the flakers. I joined and posted on the MN barf board but most of those are way south of me and feeding dogs.

I made my rack with room for 8 tubs, and it was under $50. I used tubs from the dollar store and I've never had an issue. Mine could easily fit inside a closet.
