Make sure you get all the larger cubes and such or you're going to be disappointed when your kit grows out of all those pretty things. Pay the extra and get king sized everything. My guys love the cabana but can't fit into the holes of the smaller items and the hammies not at all. So get her to do the larger items rather than the smaller. Joan doesn't make little ferrets ciao

I have a hybrid Poley. I would not recommend a Martin's cage. First you give to put them together using "C" fasteners. Hand sore for a week. I had mine custom made with extra doors. I don't think this cage is strong enough. Also the holes at the top of the ramps are small. Rubs their fur. I have the Martin's Penthouse with all the bells and whistles! It is currently sitting unused in my basement. I paid $450.00 for this cage. I honestly do not know what to do with it! I will not use it for my ferret(s). I will not sell it do to safety concerns. The wire doors can be push out. Allowing the ferret to try to push through the door opening. I put small metal clips all around the door openings so my ferrets would not get out. Didn't work. My Angora Ferret Hercules, managed to get caught between the door and cage. He must have worked hard. I can home from work and found him, thank goodness he was stuck around his shoulders. Thank goodness it wasn't his neck. Also his fur was rubbing off due to the size of the holescat the ramps. There were edge coverings around the doors. Herc's would scratch at them until he got them loose. Angoras are very hard headed. They do not give up. I used the cage with my Marshalls ferrets with out problems, using the clips. No way would I put my Poley in that cage he is much stronger than my angoras. Hercules could escape almost any cage. I gota FN cage no escapes, no problems. I am now using the same FN cage. I have seen where people put 2 FN cages together. You may need a sseparate cage for your hybrid hob. My Poley and angoras did not get along. I had 2 angoras 1 m 1fm. Poley is m all nutered and spayed. I had to get another cage.

Cynde, I'd take it and use the wire for making my own cage

LOL I'm not handy enough to make my own. Creativity and handyness are just traits I don't possess. I make up for it in other ways though lol. My hubands will put it together, he may trade me for baked goods but it's totally worth it. It's basically part of the breeder agreement, I was given a choice between 2 cages, and one manufacturer stopped making a cage recommended so it was this one. If it doesn't work out I'm sure there are other avenues to take but as a show of good faith I'm going to stick to the breeder recommend and go from there. I do like knowing both the good and bad though all experience appreciated! Here's the invoice for the modified cage. Thicker wire (14ga), wire floors (will be linoleum covered), PVC coated and 2 extra door clasps. It's a great price including shipping considering the wire upgrade and size of the cage. Pretty happy.

That is a good price. I know breeders love them but I really have to wonder why? Unless they've changed them, you have to be a contortionist to put hammies and cubes in and those floors....oh well. There are things I really hate about the FN and they're not really good for hobs which is what you're getting. I agree, your agreement with your breeder is a contract and should be followed ciao

Yeah it would appear there's no best of everything option in the cage world which is too bad. I'm not impressed with wire cages in general personally but I've already said that. He's going to be out quite a bit and with hammocks and things I'm sure it will look much better all done up. Hopefully litter box cleaning isn't too terrible, but it is what it is! I'm just glad I can do what I have to and not get totally worked over price wise right now!
Also I noticed in my last post I wrote "husbands" instead of "husband." I only have ONE lol, but I'm going to leave it just because he probably will wish I had another depending on how rough the cage build is!
