Hi guys, I was wondering if it would be possible to have a board for working/hunting with ferrets? And or another board about showing ferrets?

Showing ferrets? Are there ferret competitions?? There are competitions for ferrets, I show mine with the Ashfield ferret club that does blind judging and is indoor and sometimes I go to a British ferret club show who do ring judging. Mos shows will have colour classes, support classes and racing. Here is a video of mine that's made when I was at the championship last November, I also took my grandad's ferret Jimmy to his first show too and the judges were happy for me to film them judging a couple of ferrets

There are no shows in Australia as well, as far as I'm aware. ;n;

How come there are no shows in Canada and Australia? There may have been the odd one here and there a long time ago, but they seem quite rare now. Ferrets are still gaining popularity, so the more popular they become, the more likely they would start with shows for ferrets like cats, dogs, even rodents.

In Canada at least, I simply don't think ferrets are a common/popular enough pet to warrant shows. Plus we don't have many/enough breeders to actually have ferrets to show.

I think there should be shows in Canada and Australia because they're really good places to socialise ferrets with others ferrets as well as people

I know, I was reading about them a few months ago, the rules are much different to ours in the UK.

There are no Canadian breeders (except me, that has ever come forward). It takes breeders and organizations that want to profit from the show circuit. In the US there are some breeders and there are huge shelters who work the circuit. Money drives shows. The AFA runs the show circuit. I don't believe there is such a universal governing body in Australia and there is certainly none in Canada (no use for one either). Ferrets are not a big deal in Canada. ciao
