Girls are doing fine, this week they will have a lot of rabbit bone/meat menue, also eggs and liver and kidneys + hearts and grizzles. They just love hearts and grizzles. Now they have to deal again with rabbit heads and brains as I got new bunch of heads with ears and fur on it. One girl is still in heat, but not mated yet, as the male wasn´t so interested in her, slept over her. She was so willing and ready to go, but nothing yet. Will try again in few weeks and hope that it will be success, finally. But now when she is in heat, she has lost some weight and sleep alot and dragging other ferrets into her nest... Not so much interested in playing around, she was so playful before, not now.

Now Smokey also have her heating seaoson started, its on day 5 yet, so it will take several weeks before she will be 100% ready. What about Gaia, I do not know what to think as she sleeps alot but her vagina is getting smaller too, but the breeder was so sure that she did not get the male as he was sleeping on top of her. Will see, she is so calm, I never seen her so calm before, only sleeps or carrying other ferrets around (they do not like her to drag them thou, but its so funny when she does that) Now Käpik started to drag Gaia around and she don´t like that.
Is there anything I can give them extra during this heatind period and pregnancy if they will be mated that they do not lack of any nutrients?

Just making sure everything is balanced! You don't want too much of one thing or it will throw off your balance. Here's a few questions for you:
List 3 organs aside from liver.
Are leaner meats better for your ferret or fattier meats?
List 2 good sources of taurine.
Why are cooked bones dangerous and raw bones safe?

1. List 3 organs aside from liver. spleen, kidneys, brain, tounge, tripe
2. Are leaner meats better for your ferret or fattier meats? Leaner are better as too much fat is not good for ferrets anyway.
3. List 2 good sources of taurine. Hearst, liver, fish also in eggs
4. Why are cooked bones dangerous and raw bones safe? Who on earth will give any cooked bones to animal to eat, they can rip intestine and kill the animal who eat them and cooked bones do not have anything good in them. Raw bones are not soo fragile and sharp and have some nutrients and also bonemarrow what is good for them.

Tongue and tripe are actually both muscle meats. An organ is considered a nutritional organ if it secretes hormones It's actually better to stick with fattier portions of meat. If you had the choice to give them chicken breast or chicken thigh you should opt for the fattier thigh. Taurine is found in all muscles, but its highest in muscles that are worked hard like hearts and the tongue of ruminants (cows). Liver, fish, and eggs would not be considered good sources. Can you give me a specific menu for the girls this week? Like what they ate on what days specifically. That's how we're going to get you comfortable with balancing their meals/menu.

When I think on bird meat then I will give them thighs and wings not breast, but when I compare it with pork then I give them rather bird then pork - that what I was thinking As I said this week is a rabbit head week as we got new patch so they have to cope with that. Next week will be more birds meat as we are finished with heads now. Monday rabbit heads and chicken liver Tuesday rabbit heads and duck hearts Wednesday rabbit heads and (swine kidneys + chicken liver+ eggs + eggshells = made a soup) Thursday rabbit heads and grizzles Friday rabbit heads and duck hearts Saturday rabbit heads and Sunday rabbit heads and kidney+ liver soup (to make them eat kidneys)

I typed out a response but I guess it never sent >.>
Its okay to do that every once in a while, but theyre definitely not getting all their nutrition from the bulk of their diet coming from one thing.

Yes I know that, it was just that week. This week we have chicken and grizzles and duck hearts and livers also Quail eggs and will see what else I can get my hands on. Can´t wait when we will start gettid whole rabbit kits, but it will take some time before. Probbably need to get some whole chicks for this week as well.

The weeks you're feeding kits and chicks be sure to add extra bone in meats as juvenile meats are low in calcium

How about we try to keep feeding juveniles down to 2 times a week? They really don't provide adequate nutrition especially for jills that are going to have kits.

After speaking with some of the other mentors who are more familiar with breeding, they said no baby animals should be fed if the jill is going to be bred. She needs a high calorie diet with sufficient calcium. If you're looking to feed whole prey than mice and rats are good alternatives to chicks and rabbit kits.

MON- mice/ground turkey neck TUES- beef kidney and liver mix/ quail WED - mice/ whole chunked mackerel THURS- pig heart/ beef blend (whole prey grind) FRI- mice/ ground turkey neck SAT- bone in rabbit/ beef heart SUN- quail/ bone in rabbit One of my guys is allergic to chicken so I have to get creative with bone meals sometimes
