I really want to get my guinea pigs on fleece bedding instead of carefresh since my Guinea pig had sore feet in the past and now his feet are sore again since his bladder stone surgery. In the past I tried using fleece I looked online and did what was said to wash and dry multiple times. The fleece never wicked the urine through it just sit on top of the fleece and guinea pigs bottoms got wet needing a bath. Anyone know any tricks to make fleece wick through my piggys would appreciate it!!!!

With fleece, how about cutting it up into pieces about 3-4", so there are a few layers? You would be able to wash it in a mesh bag after that.

I read that people have had to wash the fleece 7-10 times. Hot water and no softeners. Some have said that it has done better after being soiled a few times then washed. This was a first for me about fleece blankets being used, but it seems to be popular with guinea pig owners. I have never owned a guinea pig. some cut up pieces of matress covers and use under them once they start wicking, saying they dry faster than when towels are put under them.

I washed the blankets probably about the 10 times like you said hot water soap and not softeners but it still won't wick through. I used a few thick towels under the fleece. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong
