I hope this is in the right spot.
I sent my husband to the pet store to pick up some feeder mice. He came home with duck instead. He told me that the pet store wouldn't sell him feeder mice. He told me that the man at the pet store told him that they didn't sell feeder mice only pets because that is how bubonic plague is spread. My husband tried to explain that it was spread by fleas, and if that was the case then their pet mice could spread it. And he told my husband, "no, only if they are used as food."
I was a bit in disbelief so I had to call and double check. The man confirmed they didn't sell mice as food, and when I told him we bought feeder mice there in the past, he told me, "That is very dangerous, you don't want your snake catching bubonic plague do you?" I couldn't stop laughing. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop laughing long enough to tell him I was feeding mice to a ferret. I bet he would had a fit. Instead I just hung up.
I'll have to call the store in the morning and ask them to set their employee straight.

I bet if you warned a ferret that their dinner mice might have plague, they'd be willing to take their chances. Chomp chomp.
