I have just had it confirmed that this company (www.rabbithutchwarehouse.co.uk) can make my hutch blocks I am after. They were so good, and have done everything they can to get the price down for me and accommodate what I want. Hopefully should have them by mid-end February I have ordered two quad breeder blocks BUT dimensions 8ft x 2.5ft instead of 5 or 6ft. I am then going to be putting trapdoors in between the levels so larger groups can have several levels but then I can split the levels for expecting Mums/Mums and litters. Also means I can sell all my other outdoors hutches and pens and everyone gets plenty of space. Current hutches are 6x2 and just not big enough I don't think .... Anyone else got super size custom accommodations?

They're going to love it. I'm looking forward to pictures when all is complete. No outside quarters here but does a full two story house for free roam ferrets count as a super size accommodation? (giggle)

It does lol! Only certain rooms in our house are safe enough for the ferrets, especially as they are so little so don't have them free-ranging ... and plus with 21 in 5 different groups, it would be a task to make sure they stayed apart.
One day, I will build my own house, and have about 5 ferret rooms ..... one day lol!

Only close to "super sized" accomodations here are a ferret play room, where each group(2) spends the entire day every second day and a 3 level ferret nation cage. about 2' deep, 3' wide, 8' tall.

I use FN cages but they're totally unsuitable for jills and their kits and I'm not fond of them for hobs. The jills have a small nursery situated just off their room where they live with their kits until the kits are 10 weeks old (there is no caging in the nursery). I try not to use single FN cages, they're just not big enough. I attach them in two and three banks and for the first time I'm actually going to set up a double for a pair of hobs. They have 2 full rooms that are their own (the play groups are rotated upstairs through the main part of the house, where the only room they're not allowed in without supervision is the bathroom), The jills/rescue space is the larger of the two rooms and the Bachelor pad which is smaller room, where the hobs and Lady Morgaine (she doesn't like living with the jills) call home. The hobs have two banks of homemade cages but I want to change the entries to the cages, they're too difficult to clean out. Both rooms have access to the outdoors 24/7 through a cat door located in each of their rooms and both rooms have access to a shared wilderness space. ciao

Do you have to rotate who is allowed in the wilderness space? Or do your groups mix with each other in a larger space?
That sounds awesome! Unfortunately I don't get my own way in the house and am slowly taking over the outdoors. We have an old cattle shed just across the way which I would like because I could keep the enclosures in there and have numerous large pens with plants/rocks/soil etc for each group to go to and from. I am still working on being allowed this ... the OH and his parents already think quite enough space and time is given over the ferrets!

They get rotated through the wilderness area. The hobs would love it if they had total access to the jills but I think the girls would be really upset. They had been running together but the hobs are becoming hobnoxious and the girls are really getting annoyed with them lol. The way it's worked is the hobs have access to the wilderness for one day and then the jills and the rescues have it the next ciao

Had my completion date. The new accommodation will be ready to collect on 7th March!
I'm bouncing but then it's the long job of flooring, cutting in trapdoors, fitting bolts and painting the inside and outside before they can be put in their place and finally inhabited.
Will all all worth it in the end though!
