Hello I am very new to all of this. I just got 4 fur babies and one of them passed. It happened pretty fast but he was skin and bones when I got him. The other three are doing great but I want to get them on a great diet. I think the best choice for us would be the whole prey diet. I don't want to do live. So I was curious if there was a place that you can order all of the food? Where does it all come from if not? We live in Florida. Not sure if that matters.

So sorry to hear about your loss, but I'm happy to hear you are taking good care of the others! Definitely check out the whole prey section of the forum, there's lots of great information there. But I will say right now that Rodentpro.com is (in my experience) the most popular site in the US. Otherwise, welcome to the forum! Post some pictures of your babies if you get a chance, we'd love to see them!

Hi and Welcome to the HFF I'm so sorry about your little one who didn't make it. That's just so sad. I'm glad the others have a fighting chance now. MyPetCarnivore is another option. I don't feed whole prey but many others do and you don't have to dispatch them yourself though some do. @machan is feeding whole prey now, so does bitbyter and Celene. We do have a section on whole prey, take a look around and don't hesitate to ask questions.

I am so sorry about your little one as well. It breaks my heart that people can't feel their animals' anguish. I serve my ferrets whole prey most of the time. Matter of fact, I get mine from Florida at Perfect Prey. Very clean and vacuumed packed in dry ice with an insulating wrap to boot---ASF rats, mice, chicks, and regular rats. I also get lamb kidneys and guinea pig from Hare Today. They have other stuff, too. I find their animals very clean, which is a biggie with me. Now, my hubby's friend brings me a squirrel every once in awhile, which I freeze for 2 weeks to kill any parasites. If you have a farmer's market, you can go there as well. I can get lamb offal and rabbit offal and chicken hearts. Another place I go is Pekin Paradise for duck gizzards and duck hearts. www.perfectprey.com/hare-today.com/www.farmfreshduck.com/

Hi! Welcome, I'm Machan from Australia. It's sad to hear that one of your fuzzies has passed. I do feed whole prey~ However I do mine along side a frankenprey diet. I would assume that a diet with all whole prey would still require at least 3 different protein (animal meat) sources. I don't do live either and so do many others on here. Buying whole prey from elsewhere is VERY expensive long term depending on where you purchase from. I was spending $200 a a fortnight to a month for my three to begin with. If you aim to go this route, then its better to buy in bulk, since you save more money in the long run. I then started breeding mice and so far I'm spending less but its working out perfectly. I even decided I'm going to be starting up with rats next. Most people over there seem to order from Rodentpro, Hare Today, etc. I also did a search and fount Perfect prey, who are in Loxahatchee, FL. They also seem to ship their products. They have Mice, Rats African Soft Furred Rats and Day old chicks. Keep in mind that baby animals are only for treats. Only adult animals can be considered a meal. www.perfectprey.comThere's also these guys Premium Rodents. Oh I think they have free shipping for your area. They have Mice, Rats, Chicks, Quail, ASF, Rabbits, etc southfloridarodents.comLayne Labs. Mice, Rats, Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Quail, Chicks etc. www.laynelabs.com/frozen-miceFeeders source. I've found that the best food for kits is whole pigeons and rabbits, it's got all the essential nutrients and the fur and feather to clean their teeth and help with digestion.
