Any recommendations to prevent this For my three babies (2 yrs, 2 yrs, and 4 months) I try my best not to leave them out of the cage for too long because eventually they will have to potty and they don't know the rules. Once they go in there litter box in the cage... I immediately praise them with "good job" and kisses, then let them out to continue playing. For my older two who are pretty well trained on where the out of cage litter box, I let them free roam. But when they do use their out of cage litter box, I again praise them immediately. I think it really works the best because they are spoiled and love to be held and hear "good boy/girl." But I do not give them treats for using the potty. Hope this helps.

Ferrets are never 100% it's also how they show their displeasure about things too ciao So my sable female has just begun to do this very thing. She's so focused on our routine that if I get home about an hour late from work and missed regular scooping time, she poops in the corner of the cage. She does this even if there's only two or three in there from the day. If I get home on time and on the weekends - no problem. Exasperating. Suzie

I normally scoop the litter box in the am and before I go to bed. One night I fall asleep without scooping the litter box tootsie pooped outside of the box

:heehee: You are experiencing a "protest" poop. In other words she is letting you know how upset she is lol

My deaf ferret is the pickiest of mine. If the litter box conditions aren't just perfect, she'll go in a different corner, and sometimes this convinces my other ferrets (who are generally reliable about using the litter box) to "stink outside the box" as well. She's such a little trouble maker.

I have had them happen on my chair, on my bed, and right in front of me. And yes- they gave me the "stink eye" the entire time they were doing it!
