While deciding on what kind of bowls to use in my Ferret Nation cage, I think I discovered a really cool product. I have a German Shepherd who loved to play in her water bowl, which of course meant water going all over the floor. So I bought a Neater Feeder for her. There is a basin around the bowls that collects water, and the bowls are set into the base so they can not be tipped. It comes in two colors, red (cranberry) and brown (bronze). There are lots of sizes, but I think a small would be best (the size is 14 x 9 x 6 inches). There is also a smaller version made for cats, which is called the Express. The dimensions are 13.15 x 9 x 4 inches. It is a sand color. I will take pictures once mine arrives to show how it fits in the Ferret Nation, in case anyone is curious. I don't have a ferret right now, so I can't say if it is "ferret proof". But it is very sturdy and not easy to tip.

You could probably fit it underneath the ladder? It's a perfect idea for ferrets who don't dig at their water lol. I tried something similar but it didn't work out for me so I kept using water bottles.

That might work. I'll play around with it once the litter box I ordered arrives. The setup would probably be easier to arrange if I had two levels, which I plan to install eventually. I thought litter box training would go better with one.
I hope it works for me! But knowing my luck, I'll get a water lover. : )

A similar arrangement here is a heavy ceramic bowl set inside a small clean litter pan
