hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone could give me some thoughts or suggestions on what a good balanced diet "is" (...in layman's terms...) I'm starting to wrap my mind around it, but I think I need some'more help. Here is a plan I made up of the food I will have available in a three month time frame -I know that's planning far ahead- but aside from that, is this a "GOOD" balanced diet or am I overwhelming the poor guy with too much of one kind of food, and not enough of the other? I made sure he will have available at least 6oz of food a day, I know all ferrets are different when it comes down to amounts, but like humans there is a guild line, and from what I have read 6oz is a good place to start..( ?) Anyways, my main questions are; am I overwhelming the poor guy with too much of one kind of food? and will he have the proper nutriences eating only this diet?

Ferrets need different at least 3 different types of protein, but as long as you have at least that many I believe it is OK. I offer my ferrets 5 different types, but one of them only eats 3. As long as they are eating the entire whole prey (not just the head) I believe it is a balanced meal because they are eating all the brains/organs/bones and also the fur and feathers help clean out their intestines!
But I am fairly new to this, so I could be missing something!

The amount of meat a ferret consumes is between 1 to 5 oz. Adults females 1 to 3 oz, males 3 to 6 oz....kits bottomless pits . As far as whole prey, a variety must be fed and its a minimum of 3 different types. I feed both frankenprey and prey. As far as prey animals I feed mice, ASF rats, common rat, rabbit, chicks (both regular and quail) on a regular basis ciao
