My lovely little girl Gizmo passed away on Monday night. She hadn't been feeling well for a few days and we were feeding her soupies. She seemed like she was a lot better so we took her out of quarantine. We figured since she was up eating treats and digging all of her litter out and water out that it was time. We figured she was bored and needed her fuzzy brothers and sister to keep her company. We reintroduced her back into the crew. It was kisses and ferret piles all that day. She was eating fine again and pooping fine so we had our hopes up that she was better. As the day progressed we saw less and less of the old girl. She is 8 and a half for all of you that don't know. Anyway she reappeared at about 6 and I picked her up for some cuddles. She didn't seem to be herself. She had ,what I thought was poop on her back legs. I took a closer look at her butt and about that time blood started pouring all over the floor. She was hemorrhaging. The poor girls nose went from a pink to a really pale yellow almost instantly. I just started sobbing and freaking out. Before we could get her anywhere she passed away right there in our arms. We buried her with her blankie. We had a good six and a half years with my granny ferret. I loved that little girl. She was my heart ferret. The precious girl now has her wings. I can't believe she is gone and I wish we could've done more for her. My human kiddoes are devastated and my poor husband is really taking it hard as well. I'm getting choked up just thinking of all her antics. We love you sweet Gizzy. May you dook and run and clean every single ear at the rainbow bridge.

I'm really sorry. I know it must have been awful for you, but I have seen that happen. I don't think Gizmo suffered much. 8 1/2 isn't too bad for a mill ferret, considering poleys only live 2-3 years in the wild. She'll live on in your heart like Poppy and Jaffa live in ours. DIP Giz.

Thanks everyone. She definitely lived a long and fun filled life. I got her from a little girl that was feeding her Walmart crap food. She was almost two then. She was living in a rabbit cage with shavings as "bedding". I immediately put her in a three level cage and she started war dancing. She never looked back from that point. She acted like a momma ferret to all the younger ones. She would come running to check on my new baby boy when he started crying. She loved her human and furry family like no ones business.

A travelling candle is lit, to guide her wee paws onto their next great adventure. There are many to greet you and many more to play with on this next life. Gentle journey little one. fly high and free. Visit often There was nothing you could have done. In the times that I've cared for little ones this I have observed a couple of times. A ferret bleeds out in a matter of minutes. You were there to hold her, that's what she wanted and needed. It was why she searched you out, she knew that she didn't have long. She didn't want you to fix it, she just wanted you to be with her. ciao

Thanks everyone. Even though it's only been a few days,it feels like forever since my gizmo girl was here. When they pass away, they take a huge chunk of your heart with them. My other ferrets seem to be doing OK with her passing. I believe when she got to see them for the last little bit, they said their goodbyes then. I'm glad they aren't stressed out. They seem to be eating fine and everything. My sons aren't as sad as they were. Well they act like they aren't at least. They said at least Gizmo has my Dad in Heaven with her to have fun with. I almost lost it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost an old girl this year ina similar manner; its so shocking to see happen. Fortunately, it sounds like she was very happy, and so loved. I'm sure she enjoyed her last day to the fullest and wad happy to be with you in the end. Best wishes to you and your family, fuzzy and human alike.
