Sheesh, for some reason I am just not getting notifications from this thread. I just popped in to see how things were going and here's a menu. I'm so sorry to be so long.
Your menu looks good, but I have a couple of questions. On Sunday AM, you have liver and heart organ meal. What do you mean by heart organ? You have a heart meal on Tues and another half heart meal on Thurs, so that Sunday one should be all organ. Do they do OK with only 7 bone-in meals? Poops stay firm enough? 7 is the minimum requirement for bone-in. You have 5 proteins. They're both doing OK with all of those, right? Gomez was having trouble with turkey at one point. Is that cleared up? And they both eat all of these foods in fairly good size chunks now? Whole bones, or still having to smash a lot?
OK, that was more than a couple.
Squirrel should be fine. If they're wild, make sure to freeze them for 2-3 weeks before serving.

Poops are doing well on this basic menu. Jax is especially better now that we have finished medicine and removed chicken from the menu. Gomez's issue with turkey has resolved. Both are doing well with the proteins that we have at this time. Gomez loved the rabbit. They both are eating good size chunks and we only smash turkey bones as they are a bit bigger. Like when we have a turkey neck or wing. Can we use sweetbreads as an organ meal? And what about mountain oysters? For Sunday am we will change to kidneys and alternate with pig stomach. With the liver for an all organ meal

What do you mean by sweetbreads? That usually means the thymus and pancreas, but around here (backwoods of Tennessee where people speak a different language than most of America, lol) people refer to cheekmeat as sweetbreads. If it is actually the thymus and pancreas, then yes, those are organs. And mountain oysters are also organs. @poncesmom has just discovered that her business LOVES mountain oysters!
I am so pleased with the boys' progress! You were well on the way to full raw with Gomez when I got involved with you, but Mr. Jax's arrival threw you a huge curveball and you've done a fantastic job with both of them. I can't tell you how happy it made my heart to know that Jax was rescued from such a horrid diet. I know that the person he came from has other ferrets and I hope that at some point she will have opportunity to compare her ferrets to Gomez and Jax and SEE the difference and just what damage she is doing to their health by feeding them rabbit food.
I feel like you guys are ready to graduate, but I don't want to 'turn you loose' if you don't feel ready. The process for graduation is pretty simple, a short exam and then a final menu submitted for approval, and I'm ready to start it whenever you are. Look over the mini-book I sent early in the thread and make sure you are familiar with all of that and let me know if there is anything we missed or you are unsure of. Or if you want to postpone graduation for a couple more weeks, let me know that.
We often have new people look at the switching threads for menus and they look ONLY at the last posted menu and don't read comments. For that reason, we have to make sure your LAST menu is the one that is submitted and approved. So I need you to copy/paste the one you just posted and edit it to make that organ correction, then at the bottom, list all of the proteins that the boys eat, whether it is in this menu or not. That way, Heather can see at a glance how many proteins are rotated throughout their diet.
If you are ready to start the graduation process, I'll try to get your exam questions posted in a couple of days. I'll have to do it from a 'real' computer. It's just too difficult on mobile.

Haha... Yep, I only wanted one. I wanted him to bond closely with us, which he did during his 6 months as a solo. He's still very much a people-fert and loves his mommee and daddee dearly. But I felt bad because he was alone so much of the day while we were at work and there was this tiny little she-ferret... So that made 2 and that was DEFINITELY it. No more. And then Jeremy's Boggle posted pictures of a little guy that needed a home. I resisted that one for many many months, but he eventually came home too and when he did he brought a friend. Now there are 4 and I really REALLY can't have any more. But the babies...

Here ya go!
1. List 2 good sources of taurine. 2. How can you tell if your ferret is getting too much or too little bone? 3. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? 4. Give 2 examples each of muscle meat, edible bones, and organs. 5. How much and how often can egg be fed? 6. How can you tell if your ferret is too fat or too skinny? 7. Are leaner meats better for your ferret or fattier meats? 8. Is dark or white meat a better purchase choice? 9. How many different proteins does a ferret need in a week at a Minimum?
