Menus have too many organ meals. They should only have 1 and a half meals total of organ. The menus show 4. They also only NEED 1 and a half meals of heart, but more wont cause problems like too much organ can. The lamb riblets...can they actually eat the bones?
The turkey wings can be fed. The tips they should be able to crunch through. The rest can be smashed. Just take a hammer to them, then cut into manageable size pieces. Unless you can manage to really smash up the knuckles, I would remove those pieces.

A chicken allergy would present as severe diarrhea or vomiting. If Jax is doing neither of those, it may be that he's still not chewing the chicken. Chicken seems 'slimier' than his other meats so it would just slip right down without chewing. Try giving him bigger pieces of the chicken so he has to chew. And CGH is good. It's a younger bird, so not as many hormones and antibiotics, and the bones are really good for new bone crunchers.

So it's really by the meal not the day.....there are 2 heart meals, there are 4 organ meals so we will do the deer tongue as its been over 3 weeks frozen. Yes, I know we can do CGH and what it is....my question was is it considered different so we can try Jax on it or no because it's too close to chicken, well it is chicken but you know what I mean. Jax does have bad poops when he eats chicken, will try larger pieces.

The menu is set up by the meal not by the day, yes. In the mini book on the first page of the thread, there is a sample menu, laid out by meals. If you follow that menu, you'll have balance. Most of us will mix our organs and serve them together rather than serving separate meals of each.
I'm sorry to not answer the CGH question directly. No, it's not a different protein than chicken but YES, it's enough different that ferrets with allergies can sometimes eat it. So yes, try it for Jax. So he does have diarrhea with chicken? I understood that he just passed some whole pieces in normal poop.
Sorry for my fuzzy brain. Can't blame it on the meds...maybe blame it on 'spring fever'. It was 74 degrees here yesterday. Our trees are leafing out, my flowers are growing, there are bees buzzing around. This is the craziest winter I've ever seen!

So we tried turkey balls with Jax tonight and he ate it. Trying that in lieu of chicken, he is still having loose stools when he has tried the chicken again. As well as the undigested pieces. Tonight we noticed that his anus was prolapse again. Poor baby boy. We used the sugar trick. Gomez is doing pretty good at eating on his own. Tends to eat more at dinner meal. Wondering if we could give him small breakfast and larger dinner.. he seems hungrier at evening meal when he and Jax have had play time. He takes a long time to fully rouse from sleep. Just a thought Going to try tongue this week too. Also.....does the testicles count as muscle or organ? Signed, Confused

Dear Confused,
The rule of thumb is 'if it secretes something, it's an organ'. Testicles secrete; therefore they are organs.
It's definitely fine to feed more in the evening. You find a schedule that works for you and the boys. Every ferret is different. If they eat more at night, then by all means, feed them more at night. Of my four, I have one that ONLY wants to eat at night, one that eats best in the mornings and hardly anything in the evening, one that eats after the food has 'aged' for an hour or two, and one that eats every time I offer anything. You know your boys best, so figure out what works for them.

Morning, sorry couldn't post good yesterday and I have lost tap talk again, grrrrr. It is the only way I can post pictures, not sure what happened as it is coming and going. We are trying deer tongue today so wish us luck. Will do the morning and evening food levels. We said the same exact thing, the balls secrete so therefore they must be organ....not sure we will get them often as we lucked up on this set. Continue to heal, Jami is good and bruised still and in some pain but now she has a chest cold. Happy New Year

I like to see them eating on their own! Yayyy for good boys and good ferrenting!!
It's time to ditch the soup for Gomez. He's eating everything now, right? Heart, organs, bones, etc? Start making that soup even thinner so it's just barely thicker than water and decrease the amount you pour over his food.
Jax needs to start getting off the soup too, but go a little slower with him if you need to. He's still fairly new to this raw stuff. Give him the proportions you've been giving Gomez.
Do you have a menu for this week?
How is Jami's knee doing? And Scarlett's ear?

Do you have a menu for this week? How is Jami's knee doing? And Scarlett's ear? Hey Gina, so Gomez has only been getting 2 oz of soupie a day for like 4 weeks and he gets more at night of that 2 oz since he eats better at night. To that he gets at least an ounce of chunks. We keep trying to increase the size and you see that size we are at. He is eating bones BUT only CGH and regular wing tips.....not any bigger. He is much better at eating alone, sometimes we have to encourage and are still in the room. Jax is down to 3 oz of soupie instead of 4-5 oz of soupie. To that we are adding the small chunks....he is better with long spaghetti strips than Gomez. Tonight he has CGH so we will see how poop is. Think we are doing good with transition. Salmon oil this morning and beaten egg with water tonight. This weekend we will go down to 1 oz soupie for Gomez. Jami ended up getting a nasty upper respiratory crude and is still under the weather. Sounds like she is coughing up a lung....lol I am healing, had a set back 2 weeks ago but doing good. Both of us are back to work after the holidays. Happy New Year!!! How are you healing up?
