Enzo ate 2oz of thick soup like a champion! I put it on his plate still frozen, and he took NO prompting to eat it!! Very impressive. He is releasing waste fine, still loose but less so. He is acting much stronger, too. He is now climbing onto things and he prances around, still pretty much ignore my cat who tries to play with him. He also has this weird thing. I bought him a tube and instead of really...running through it much, he wants to drag it into his enclosure? Every time it is out, he tries bringing it back in.

Enzo is steadily accepting and eating about 1.5 oz of frozen thick soup for each meal. He usually eats most of it, plays, and then finishes it after a nap. I think I will begin offering him very small chunks in the soup mix since he didn't seem as thrilled at chunks by themselves. I am noticing he is MUCH more energetic then when I first got him, and wants to play for much longer than before.

Yes I am very pleased he is already acting healthier. And only after 5 days on raw! Today is my day off so he has been out all morning playing while I sew a new bedding set. He ate his breakfast (1 oz of frozen thick soup) like he was starving so today we decided to try an egg yolk. He ate a bit but seemed more interested in the box full of brown crinkly paper we got today. Today I will also be making a new batch of soup since we are almost out, and I will be including some slivers in it since he is doing so well with the soup.

Today was a very lucky day for Enzo! He ate three oz of his raw soup so I could clear up the ice tray for my new batch of soup with slivers. Eating and defalcating normal, no change in weight. He also got about 10 new toys, from little stuffed rattlers to a crinkle tunnel. The cats got a new cat tree which Enzo is also enjoying. Hopefully he will take to soup with slivers as well as he did normal soup.

He is doing so great. He got another 3oz today because he seems so hungry! The new batch of soup has chunks about the size of my pinkie nail and he is eating it up. To make this batch I blended together 2oz chicken heart, 2 oz beef liver and 4oz chicken thigh. the other 4oz chicken thigh I cut into those pieces and he seems to like it just fine. I noticed Enzo is only stashing one thing - empty water bottles. This morning I found four behind my record player. They're not chewed up, and he only wanted to chew on them when I grabbed them. We played with a bit before I recycled them. I read plastic is bad for them because they may chew it up? So I will not be leaving them out anymore. His coat is looking good, and I noticed his musk is lessening in severity.

Different ferrets like to chew on different things, I know I couldn't trust anything like a plastic bag with one of my ferrets because he wouldn't stop chewing it. I've given them plastic bottles that were filled with water and inside a tied up sock though. Since it's not flat they can't really do much to bite it, but the sock gives them a way to grab it. Dragging around heavy things can be a fun task for them.

I am at a complete loss for words! Late last night I attempted to feed my python, but he rejected the meal (most likely because he is going into shed). I left it in his enclosure overnight to give him the chance to change his mind, but this morning I found the mouse intact. Before throwing it out I opted to place it in Enzo's enclosure, just to see what he thought of it. He sniffed it a bit but decided to play. A bit later he retires, and I assume he is going to nap. Then I hear crunching! I pulled out my camera because I just could not believe it! He isn't digging into it, seems to be shaking it a lot and kind of deciding whether or not he actually wants to eat it, but he recognizes it as prey and seems at least interested in it!

Looks like he's already done the ferrety thing by it....eaten it's head. There is always a lot of head shaking to make sure it's dead. It also removes the entrails which they don't like. ciao

Should I remove the entrails before giving it to him? I really didn't think he would eat it at all. I see some people feed them in like, plastic boxes with whole prey? Enzo seemed to eat just the head and then went to sleep. Should I leave this in his enclosure while I am at work?

What a trooper you have there,
I wish they were all that easy to switch.
just leave it in there for him. They head is the best part, mine always go for that first. he will eat the rest when he gets hungry again.
I love it when a ferret knows what is good for them.

Enzo had his last soup meal this morning. It was just a small one, so I gave him a mouse around 2pm, which is already gone. Picked up lamb liver, pork heart (despite my not wanting to handle pork) today at the local butcher, and will be making a chunk mixture for him tonight. I am so impressed with how far he has come. I will be ordering mice/rats/guinea pigs soon. He also decided to be a beautiful model today.

what part of Oregon are you in?
I am soon to be overburdened with hundreds of ASF rats.
