Not a post I thought I'd be making today, I ran upstairs to take a shower this afternoon and saw Koda laying with his butt and back legs out of a sleep sack, rather abnormal for him so I went in to check on him and found him breathing heavily, totally out of it and had pottied on himself. I rushed him to the vet and they did a couple xrays, there was air in his stomach and intestines but nothing concrete and he was in such bad shape they couldn't get an IV in and didn't think he would make it through surgery. I stayed with him while they put him to sleep and the vet opened him up after to see if there was a blockage or what happened. She didn't find anything, there was hemorrhagic spots inside his bladder and in the fat around his liver, nothing blocking, lots of air, his left adrenal was enlarged but no idea what really caused this. He vomited at the vet and pottied himself again when we first got there. I feel like crap, I didn't search him out earlier and notice he was off, I couldn't fix this, it sucks. RIP my fat little escape monster, you're back with Blackie but you two have left poor Craven behind.

So sorry for your loss and that they couldn't figure out what caused it Try not to blame yourself, it sounds like there was nothing that could've been done I hope that both you and Craven will get through this, I am praying for both of you and hope that you will get through this together. DIP Koda

Goingpostal, if the vet couldn't figure out what was wrong, please believe- there was nothing you could have done to prevent this. Hindsight can be very cruel sometimes. {{{{{hugs}}}}} DIP Koda

So sorry. That is such a shock. I hate it when they go like this. Did he show any signs beforehand? How old was he? Sherry is right though. If the vet couldn't figure it out then you would not have been able to do much at all to avoid this. May he rest in peace.

If the vet couldn't figure it out then you would not have been able to do much at all to avoid this. May he rest in peace. You know in hindsight, he was losing weight, he's been fat fat fat since last fall, he didn't lean out on raw like everyone else did, he didn't lose any weight for spring, but a couple days ago I noticed he looked like he had a waist for once but he was still quite heavy, not sickly thin at all and I just assumed he was finally dropping some of his chunk when it was probably actually that he was sick. So I feel like I should have caught it or paid more attention but he was eating and acting fine and since the others had lost huge amounts of weight this spring I didn't worry. As far as his age, I don't know, we've had him over 3 years, my friend had him 1-2 years and got him from someone else originally. RIP Koda Him and Craven, you can see how much bigger he was
