This year has been full of loss for us. With no warning but being a little off for barely 2 days she passed away last night. She was so young just 2 years old.
Her story is short but she taught me to love even the biteyest of ferrets.
2014 September 2 ferrets for sale I didn't have the money at the time so I said if they still had them in a month I'd take them. Well a month passed and they ended up giving them to us. 2 ferrets were brought outside covered in poo their claws were daggers the girl almost leaped in my arms and the boy clung to my shirt. 2 screaming kids and a tiny dog came running out we left as soon as possible. It took time but their names came to us akiko(girl) and taz(boy). For months if you walked to fast near her she would bolt from being chased she was also fat they kept them in the cage and fed them Wal-Mart kibble. Their teeth aged them 9months to 1 year old. Eventually she became close to me she even wagged her tail when I held and showed her around. She loved to bite people while petting her one time she just looked at me and nailed my chin. One day she even latched onto my nose! With all of that I loved her. She was with us for one year.
2 nights ago while I was cleaning the cage she came all the way from the top level hammock and got in my lap. I just held and pet her since its rare she let me do that. Last night I gave them the house for the 3rd time since we've been here. She walked the house and came back to me I just held her for about 20mins I gave her some coconut oil and tucked her/them in with food. This morning she was lifeless in the cage. Besides wanting attention she ate drank and pooed normal I even checked for anything she could have chewed I found nothing. D.i.p. akiko you will get to see Newton again and I will miss you thank you for teaching me patience.
