They are just so smart. Mine get all excited while I am preparing their meals. Everyone has to have a taste and get a piece to run off and eat. They bounce around and get up on the counters to help.
I also get woken up at night when a plate becomes empty. The joys of free roaming. :boing:

FINALLY success with my Lizo! She has finally after snubbing food has broke her stubbornness and ate a whole ounce of soupie!!! Last 2 days I have fed Roxy in their cage and set it right next to the kibble for every feeding. Roxy ate as normal and ate her ounce or ounce and 1/2 and Lizo I think got use to the smell and her sister smelling very much like it. I had to spoon feed Lizo which is totally fine but we'll work up to it! I'm just way way excited!!

One of the things that is mentioned frequently on here is that ferrets are good at self regulating food intake. Roxy is good at asking for more if she's still hungry, and that's great. Trust in what she's "telling" you. Being that raw would have a lot more nutrition than kibble, and she is now getting more out of eating less, I don't think she would be eating any kibble overnight because her body wouldn't need to. Assuming that Lizo would need overnight kibble to be phased out more slowly, Roxy should have no problems. How did the overnight go?? (Ack, sorry, my response was to the end of the first page, didn't see the second and I was curious >.>)

So tonight is the night I won't be putting any kibble in the cage. We've cleaned it out made sure no traces are in there. Just using it as an excuse for a deep clean.
This morning
Roxy ate about an ounce - Current weight is 1lb 11 ounces
Lizo ate very close to the same at an ounce - current weight 2lb 2 ounces
Lizo has graduated up to eating on her own off a plate as well so no spoon feeding for the time unless we slip backwards.
I also bought a new scale that weighs much easier and more accurately so we'll have better readings for tonight. I really think my other old scale was off.
If they do not eat at all overnight how much should I be feeding in the AM? Any ideas would be helpful!

If they're not eating at all overnight, I would suggest maybe adding half an ounce for each in the morning and see how they do. It'd be just a bit more if they're hungry, but not too much to be wasteful. Just keep monitoring as you have been. It's all about experimenting, as all ferrets are unique! I believe they're on the low side, but very close to how much adult females eat. Abbey made a post somewhere with the exact numbers from her mentor guide...

From: holisticferret60.proboards.com/thread/18129/switching-yr-old-ferret-rawThe amount of food your individual ferret eats will depend on gender, age, season of the year, and his general mood. It can differ dramatically sometimes and until you become familiar with his eating habits, you will have some waste. In general (and with ferrets and their food, we ALWAYS speak in generalities), adult males eat 2-4 ounces per day, adult females 1-3 ounces per day. Kits of either gender eat 2-3 times MORE food than an adult. They all eat more when they are in the fall and winter mode, less in the spring and summer mode. In fact, ferrets can lose up to 40% of their body weight in the spring. Other factors can play a role in their eating habits also, such as stress, excitement, temperature, or attitude (“I just don’t feel like eating chicken today, mom”). Being familiar with your ferret’s eating habits at any given time of the year is important in keeping track of their health. This is one of the reasons we always recommend that you keep a food journal to track appetite, poops, activity, and weights. MOST ferrets are self-regulating and will eat only what they need. This is not to say that there are NO obese ferrets, but as a rule, they eat what they need to survive and no more. A good guideline when feeding is to try to make sure there is always a bite or two left over when you feed the next meal.

So this morning the girls both ate 2 ounces of soupie. I do want to be clear also there is no water added to the soupie its just pureed portion. I did not have bone meal so I used the dried egg shells. Girls are both in good spirits. I suppose I should be begin adding slivers of meat? Not sure if that is to soon or if I should be introducing another protein yet or just keep them going with the chicken soupie recipe.
Thanks for the help!

Roxy ate a full 2 ounces of soupie this morning.
Lizo had 1.4 ounces of soupie and is insisting to sit on my lap while eating otherwise she ignores the food. Silly girl.
