Hi. I'm not any of the tagged people, and I haven't been around for a while so I'm not up to date with Gomez's transition, but I've just skimmed through your last few posts and it looks like he's doing fantastic. He's eating well and his weight looks good. His 'perfect' weight is going to change from season to season. Basically you want him to look like a tube when you dangle him. I don't know what part of the world you're in, but here in the States, we're moving toward winter so ferrets are putting on a few extra ounces.
You asked about a deer heart. It needs to be frozen for 2 weeks to make sure there are no living parasites.
And you might be getting new babies! That's exciting! Be aware that the age of rehomes is not always accurate, and if their current owner rescued them, she may be just guessing at their ages. I would definitely want them to be vetted before taking them home and personally, I would most likely require vetting before even allowing my babies to meet them. They are most likely bonded and it would be a terrible mistake to separate them. Intros with Gomez could go either way. If you do decide to get them, be ready for the possibility of them not getting along and having separate play groups indefinitely.
I'm sorry you haven't gotten replies very promptly recently. It seems that real life has been throwing all of us some curve balls and we're not keeping up as well as we would like. I don't know where Machan is, but Stef (Poncesmom) has had to take a leave of absence for a while.

Hi.....we just feel like limbo out here at times, I sure hope we get a mentor soon.....still like 4 ahead of us. We have read for months and prepped food for months and then rescued Gomez. We always wanted 2. So, update, we went and met Jack the 1-1.5 yr old boy, very skinny and long. The woman who rescued him from being just let out into the wild a few weeks ago wants to keep the female as her other 2 like her. So, we are getting Jack on Friday, $50 and some food he is on.....Dumore, not familiar with this food at all but looked it up and says it is chicken feed. Well, have to keep him on it as we transition to raw. We are in northern New Hamphire so yes winter is coming and Gomez has changed in his fur, color and silky feeling....some due to winter and due to raw. Where are you in the states? Do you post on fb site as well? Poncesmom is great and I knew she took a position recently, Machan is on a different timezone in Australia but with her classes and all, plus she is not our mentor. I just worry Jami and I do what is right, I know he is doing good and we love them but we just do not want anything to happen to our fuzzies. Thanks for poking in to read Scarlett

I know it's difficult to be on your own with something like switching. I'm sorry. But you are doing a great job and you've done your research. We're Jack and the female rescued together? If they have been together and are bonded, be prepared to go through the grieving process with him. I would suggest getting some Bach's Rescue Remedy (I think that's the name...my brain has decided to shut down early tonight) to help ease his transition. Has he been to a vet? This is what I found about DuMor brand food. "Available exclusively at Tractor Supply Co., DuMOR® offers a complete line of animal feeds, milk replacers, and livestock supplements specially formulated for horses, poultry, goats, sheep, pigs, and rabbits. Give your livestock a consistent and balanced diet through every life stage and desired performance level with DuMOR." Not a single one of those animals listed eats a diet suitable for a ferret! Get Jack off of it immediately. I'm in Tennessee. I live about 1.5 hours away from Stef but we haven't managed to connect in person yet. One of these days, we ARE going to do that. I am on FB, either Gina Fountain or Slink E. Magoo. You are welcome to message me there if you have an emergency.

Yes, that food is gross.....but one question is do we keep him on it while we try to switch to raw soupie next week OR switch Jack to what Gomez was on Kaytee 40% protein ferret food, we have a new bag that we ordered in case he did not take to raw and was what he was on when we got him.....we pick him up on Friday. Get this, we are telling the woman about raw and the group and how much healthier hers would be.....tonight she asked for the site, hopefully she'll do it. She does love her fuzzies.

I lived in Johnson City and in Jonesborough for 6 years before here.
