Faust and Sampson are beautiful. I have a love and admiration for snakes. I was so close to buying my first snake and then I fell in love with my ferret. I was planning on purchasing a nuclear Kenyan sad boa.

Are your snakes retics? And ball pythons?

Hi Bonbon! Thank you very much. <3 If you ever do decide to get your sand boa, you won't be disappointed I'm sure. I love my snakes dearly.

I don't have any retics unfortunately (Though I would love one.) Florida requires a specific license for large constrictors that usually only business or zoos can get. Same with burmese pythons. I do have some ball pythons, and other types of pythons, and different types of boa constrictors

@desiree - Yeah, it's really unfortunate for responsible owners. I understand why it's place (With Florida's invasive burmese python problem). I just unfortunately live in a state that quite a few exotic species can thrive. But I won't give up hope, maybe someday I'll get the retic, burmese, and green anaconda I've wanted

Ru is a boy lol! His litter was the drag queen litter, so they all got drag names x3 He's the sweetest boy ever, truly. One of the most submissive dogs I've ever encountered.


lyles - Haha it sure is! Honestly it doesn't feel like it though. The majority of the snakes are in a rack system so they take up barely any room. And it's really no different to take care of 1 snake then it is to take care of 15. (Of course that depends on the species. I would love to keep a brazilian rainbow boa, but with their odd heat requirements and humidity levels it just wouldn't work here so I refrain)

I never kept large snakes before, the only snakes I ever had as a pet were small brown grass snakes I would sneak into the house as a kid (and get prompt whipping when they were discovered).

I have a couple of box turtles though, they are in their own terrarium far above my ferrets' reach lol

I don't want to start a debate, but large snakes are restricted in Florida because there are idiots, and the Everglades are being taken over by them. Unfortunately, there are already enough of them to represent a threat, and the state is in the process of devising a plan to capture/kill as many as possible.

It's different than banning ferrets in some areas, because there is no way they will ever pose such a threat to native species.

I've always wanted a hognose snake or poison dart frogs, but alas I'm only allowed animals with fur. My husband is terrified of snakes, frogs, lizards, etc.

Apparently a ferret (cat-snake) is the closest I'm getting to a snake

unclejoe Oh I know why the law is in place and I can most certainly see the need for it when it comes to Florida and snakes but also part of the lacey act are other animals that I just don't see a reason why they are on there. My same reasoning applies to California and their ridiculous bans on anything that isn't a cat or dog.

@c3ntip3de - Thank you ^^ Ru is a really interesting dog. Never had a dog like him before! I'm used to my fluffy fat eskimo lol And yes, I'd never say taking care of all these animals is easy, but it's incredibly rewarding.
