Wow! The video was great. Ghost is a good eater. At his age and during a switch, he can eat alot.
The others all did remarkably well. You must be so pleased, I am.
As for the liver, it will be fine this time. It takes awhile and more liver than that, to build up to a toxic level. Use the soup you made.
The idea next is to begin adding slivers to the soup. You can use the soup recipe and add chicken slivers, you can try pork sliver or Cornish game hen. Really any meat to the soupie.
What you'll be doing is over the next week or two, is adding slivers and increasing the size.
Once they happily eat the slivers, start reducing the soup and increasing the slivers until it is all slivers of meat.
Then we move to beginning to work on bones.
With Ghost, I would pick up some chicken wings. Chicken wings come in three sections. Cut off the wing tip section above the tendon and leave a few in his cage at night.
Cut them once lengthwise and twice width wise but not all the way through. Save the other pieces in a baggie.
Don't buy tons now, keep it simple. You can buy in bulk and freeze things but keep your meal plan simple for now. You're following the soupie recipe and adding slivers. You want nice fatty pieces of meat.
Fat equals energy for ferrets.
Look for:
A fatty pork butt roast
A fatty chuck steak.
Cornish game hens
Quail...do you have an Asian market near you? Google find Asian market near your location and check yelp for reviews. Quail is in the freezer section. I don't remember if I asked that?
Chicken wings and thighs.
If you can find turkey or duck wings, great. Otherwise you can buy a fattier cut of ground turkey.
That will be enough proteins for now.
My first shopping trip, I went all out and bought so many exotic things. No one wanted to eat them so I went back to the basics and they ate better.
Then I was able to include something a little more exotic in their menu each week.
It is fun making their meals. They notice and will really bond more with you.
You'll get snuggles and kisses and even naps on your lap.
It's tons of fun to be cutting some slivers and offer them one. Then watch as they run off laughing, heheheheheh. They do laugh and it's so cute.
Great Job. Be very very proud of yourself and your four!
