Nao (10 months)
Morgan (9 months)
Day 1: Started the switch by adding some water to one of their kibble bowls. Morgan had no problem eating it, but Nao was hesitant and preferred the dry kibble. Began feeding using a baby spoon, which they have begun to associate with food. If they don't eat something out of the bowl, a couple licks off the spoon usually gets them going.
Day 2: Once the rest of the dry kibble from the first day was gone, I replaced it with moistened kibble. Nao ate it after some coaxing and Morgan chowed down with no problem. Their previous owner said he gave them cooked chicken as a treat, so I tried to give them small bits of cooked chicken. They wouldn't touch the meat, but enjoyed some of the fat.
Day 3: Mixed in some chicken juice with the kibble and water. They ate it after a little hesitation. I added a bit of chicken fat into their next meal, which they loved.
Day 4: After I got them eating a soupy mixture, I introduced some bits of raw chicken and baby food. Heated it up with hot water. Morgan ate it willingly, but Nao refused until I added a drop of Ferretone.
Day 5: I ground up some kibble with a mortar and pestle. Created a soup by adding boiling water to the mixture of chicken chunks, baby food, and crushed kibble. Added some Ferretone to get Nao to eat.
Day 6: Gradually reduced the kibble over the course of the week until they were just eating baby food and chicken chunks with some hot water poured over it to warm it slightly.
Day 7: First day kibble-free!
Day 8: Added eggshell powder to the chicken chunks and removed the baby food (They weren't that fond of it anyway). Offered bone in the center of the meat, but they weren't interested. Started increasing the size of the chicken chunks. Morgan ate easily, but Nao still needed Ferretone occasionally to get her started. Nao began hoarding during meals, so I made her a hidey-hole to stash her food in.
Day 11: Made the raw soup recipe of 8 oz muscle meat, 1 oz liver, 2 hearts, and 1/2 teaspoon of eggshell powder. Used all chicken products. Morgan tasted it when I put the bowl down, but shook her head vigorously and refused to eat until I wiped some on her mouth. Nao sniffed it, but did not eat. A drop of Ferretone in the bowl got her started and they both cleaned the bowl. Made what I thought was going to be enough for the whole weekend, but they finished it the next day.
Day 12: Gave the remainder of the soup in the morning. Made more using the same portions of chicken, but less water. They ate without any Ferretone.
Day 13: Experimented with EVOO. Nao licked it, but didn't seem as interested as she is in Ferretone. Morgan ignored it. She's not as excited by Ferretone as Nao is though, so that's not surprising. Planning on phasing out Ferretone.
Day 14: Gave them an egg in the afternoon. They sniffed at it, but did not eat until I added a couple drops of Ferretone.
