I figured I'd go ahead and share some pictures of Ferris's home, since it actually stays still for pictures whereas Ferris does not.
Here's the grand overview! The pink bag on top has all his toys, and I keep my headphones there as well to keep him away from the cords.
He hates that blue water bottle, so that's why it's crooked. It's less of a water bottle than a punching bag for him.
I haven't actually seen anyone else with this cage, though the fact that I can only find it online may be a factor in that. It's the WARE Living Room Series Ferret Home. I actually chose it over the FN at the time because I loved the rounded corners (I was a very simple person at one point). It hasn't proven to be a bad choice whatsoever! I do loathe the ramps it came with. They were a very cheap plastic with little to no traction...so it's a good thing I don't use ramps anyway.
The doors on the front would be a problem if it didn't have this feature:
It only has these panels on its left side, but I can actually shove my entire body across its width fairly easily. That's probably a testament to my flexibility. (giggle)
That corner litter box didn't used to be there, but he kept using the corner there instead of his blue pan so I put it in. He doesn't go in it, but that also means he doesn't go in that corner. Problem solved with an unconventional solution. It's a little awkward having a tube that essentially launches him into the pan, but as long as he's not getting it dirty I think it's fine. The tube is there to act as the ramp to the top level, though one of those horrid ramps is underneath it to give it some extra support.
My dad likes to tease me by saying I buy Ferris more things than anyone in our family...which is true.
By far, his favorite thing is the very bottom hammock. It's actually a cat hammock, so he can entirely sprawl out in it. I will never buy hammocks any smaller! He doesn't really use his other two - I think he now thinks they're cramped since he's gotten used to the large one.
Most of his things are from the cat section in stores, actually. That giant sleeping sack in the top left was $8 versus the small animal sleeping sacks costing upwards of $15. There's also so much more padding in cat bedding? He also loves dog toys, which are what the chipmunks in the log are for. He has a blast digging them out of that log. You can see one forlornly laying on the floor from his efforts.
The last thing I can think of that he really enjoys is the baby play blanket on the third level; it has flaps that open to let him inside the blanket, and every section of it makes a different sort of crinkle sound. It also has a Velcro patch for you to attach your own toys! Best $7 ever spent.
Even with all these things, he still gets bored of course. Whenever I am home and am able to watch him he is allowed free reign of my room. When I'm home but preoccupied, he has an enclosed playpen to give him a little change of scenery. He is very, very spoiled.
Thank you very much for looking! Opinions are very much welcomed.
