The New ferrets had a nice peaceful day in the enclosure on Sat, while I took the raw boys to a show with the help of my friend Shelly. Neeps came 3rd in the Light Coloured Hob category. On returning from the show the new ones came to say hi. The I put the raw crew back in the enclosure with them and a couple of squeaks later everyone settled quickly. The new ferrets had kibble and a raw chicken carcass available while the others were away. They munched a good portion of the carcass as well as the meat. When it comes to chicken, even on the bone they seem to know how to deal with it. I'm so happy they seem to be enjoying their raw food. Today I'll try them with beef mince.

I've been introducing the ferrets to Beef mince with egg as they love egg. So far I can tell they prefer raw chicken better but I have seen all of them eat some. I removed the kibble for 4 hours tonight and they all came and had some raw with no issues. They've had minced Beef the last two days so I think they are getting used to the taste. One more day of Beef then onto Turkey. Also next post I will be weighing them again. Think one of the jills, Salt has put on weight as she seems to have a wee belly now

Haven't had time to weigh yet. All the ferrets are doing well and definitely eating a mix of raw & kibble. They weren't so keen on beef but when mixed with egg took to it fine. They had a Chicken carcass to share and it went quicker than usual so I believe more than just my 5 raw guys were nomming on it. Now onto Turkey mince with egg the first day then straight Turkey for another day or two. All going well I expect to try some organs this weekend and then look at phasing out kibble for part of the day and go from there

Well none are so keen on the Turkey including my original 5 ferrets lol. Some was eaten but not much. I'm still gauging what 5 new fuzzles will eat including the girlies. They had kibble down during the day but not much and tonight just meat. I know the meat will be eaten - its chicken carcass. I put it down and brought out the new crew one by one and they were eating the carcass happily beside the raw boys. Each new ferret spent several minutes having a good meal on the chicken carcass eating bone too. They all love chicken Had to supervise to prevent stashing so everyone had a good meal. Turned my back for a second and the carcass was stashed in their hide hut with 4 ferrets from both groups in tow all still wanting to eat it no fighting just jostling to get in and eat more - so pleased they are doing well

The chicken carcass got finished overnight. When I feed just one carcass to the 5 raw boys it takes them 24 hours to eat and this morning there was nothing left of the chicken carcass so looks like all ten ferrets had a good munch at the carcass overnight

When you say "chicken carcass" is it like... a whole chicken meat, skin, and so forth, or mostly bones? Just wondering.

Its chicken carcass with wings, organs, breast & legs removed by the butcher. The back meat & skin and meat close to the bone that's hard to remove is left on the skeleton. There's quite a bit of meat left. My ferrets will eat all of it including the bones. They rarely leave anything but the breast bone. I use the carcasses as part of bone in meals

Yesterday we had ferret play date at a friends house. Whilst there I took some chicken mince with liver mixed in, with us. All the ferrets ate this and seemed to like it On returning home they had the rest of the chicken liver mince and day old chicks. Lets just say day old chicks were a hit with all the new ferrets. The crunched them up no problem

Today they had sardines in oil as a wee snack. The new ferrets had a sniff but only Willow had a bit to eat. He seems to love the fish

Ferrets had some fish as a snack. Willow, Bandit and Pepper loved it. Dotty & Salt enjoyed a little too.
