They ship it in dry ice, which lasts a while and then all of the frozen meat cools itself and keeps itself frozen - the box is very well insulated. You have some time before it risks spoiling.

Also, Heather was nice enough to share with me the name of a whole prey / raw provider in BC. Coast to Coast MiceThey do mice, rats, ASF rats, chicken and quail. Not sure how much it would be to ship to Stewart, but if you order in enough bulk it might be well worth it considering the current exchange rate!

Hah @poncesmom! I'm pretty sure @sirrush lives a 12-14 hour drive from the nearest Asian market I think it would be easier to try and find local farmers and hunters to get meat and organs from. Generally there are people in small towns who raise their own livestock, including rabbits and smaller birds. Ordering from rodentpro or hare today is a good idea. I would just call your local border crossing first to make sure they'll let you bring it through. I talked to Katt who went from Alaska to Seattle and she said they let her bring meat into Canada, but the end destination was still the US so she isn't sure whether it would make a difference. Wow! I thought that I was far from city life. That's a great idea about farmers. Thanks for helping. :wave3:

I will check all the rodent sites suggested though, and figure out what's cheapest (don't need to worry about the border, 95% of the time they don't even ask unless they don't like you/you got flagged before)

Bah, they ate the whole double batch before morning. Oh well...
Day 5: Marble 980 Moka 630
Did another double batch of soupie, with ground beef added... I have now run out of boneless chicken, so I am going to start just doing half ground beef half broken up drumsticks/pork riblets.
Also gave them decent sized chunks of pork, to see if they will chew on them.
Finally put puppy pads in the corner they kept going in, had to tuck them under table legs to prevent the fuzzies from dragging them around.
And I know I promised pictures on Friday, but I didn't end up visiting my sister so didnt have a good enough internet connection to do so, will try to soon though (probably Wednesday).

They didn't eat much yesterday, and I actually caught them sleeping when I weighed them (Marble didn't actually wake up until AFTER I checked her weight-guess she noticed the bowl was colder than her hammock she was in).
So, day 6: Marble 880 Moka 590
First time they were actually sitting still for the weighing, so these weights are probably more accurate than the rest of them.

How did they do with the pork?
That was a good idea with the puppy pads, but don't be surprised if this presents a challenge to them. Ferrets love a challenge, lol.

The kittens ate more than the fuzzies did, and Moka thinks the puppy pads are toys to play with... Going to order some bitter apple and spray the corners if they don't stop going where they shouldn't in their playpen

It's a start though. The fact that they ate any, is really wonderful with a new protein. Sitting with them helps. Hand feeding a piece or two goes along way towards getting them to eat something new.
I'm not sure I would use Apple bitter spray. It works for some and not for others. They might avoid the pads because of the odor. I wonder if you put pads all around the edges of the playpen and left the middle open, if that would work? Then once you see where they prefer, leave those pads there. Pens don't really have corners and ferrets like corners. Perhaps if the playpen was pushed into a corner, that would give them a corner spot.
You did well with the pork. Another trick is to make the next few meals all pork. They get familiar with it and will eat better.

The playpen has plenty of corner actually, I think I posted pictures of how its setup on the first page.
The pen takes up the 'dining' area of my kitchen, and goes against 2 walls (and is under a table I have as extra counter space). They have stopped going under the table as far as I can tell (I put a den-style litter box there) but thry keep going in the corner by their cages. They also like to play with the puppy pads, so I am almost thinking of making another litter box for there (or just putting the open one I have there)

How is everything going so far @sirrush? Can we get an update on the fuzzers progress?

How is everything going so far @sirrush? Can we get an update on the fuzzers progress? They are doing well enough, Moka still forgets about the playpen's litterbox at night, but I have been trying the bite hold and she definitely bites less/softer than she used to (my 6&7 year old nephews were OK with how hard she bit). Marble is playing a lot more than she used to, though she is more picky about food than Moka (still trying to get her to drink salmon oil on her own). I have been trying the scruff and pet suggested for helping bond, if I catch Marble half asleep she will continue to nap for a bit now, but as time goes on Moka is accepting it less and less (she now tries to get out of my grip pretty fast, but the first few times she lasted several minutes). Uhm... I am having issues getting more food for them, the grocery store (usually) carries chicken heart/ beef or chicken liver, but not a 3rd organ. Chicken is also expensive here and usually has been in the freezer for quite awhile, so all I have for that is drumsticks I got when I got the fuzzies, and the grocery store keeps putting off looking into the items I was asking for (going to be asking my girlfriends work very soon, sick of waiting). For beef the only option I have is ground, although I will be buying a pork tenderloin today for them, since I ran out of riblets. I checked frozen feeders, but for shipping to be worth it I would have to buy about $400 worth of rodents, and shipping would be about $200 up here, USD. And then I would have to pay taxes. I mean to look into FDR, but don't have decently consistent internet access to look it up very well.

What is their diet right now? (what does their menu look like/consist of) Are they on full raw? And what sized chunks are they eating? As for the meats, are there any Asian markets near you? Or any butcher shops? You can call around and see if any butchers will give you their scraps and any organs. Chicken drumsticks/thighs and ground beef can't hold them for very long without running into deficiencies, so let me know all that they have available. To have a balanced diet they need at least 3 proteins, one being a red meat, then heart, liver and one other organ. You can always look into ordering meat online, or something like a commercial grind. I'm in the US so I am not much help with sourcing, but Sherry, Heather and bitbyter are in Canada, they may be able to help more. I've heard a lot about the product Carnivora, I think it's only available in Canada, but I'm not 100%.

Anyways, like I said, going to ask my gf's workplace today if they can order me meats (they are the only restaurant that doesn't order through the grocery store). As for what they are eating, I mostly have them on soupie in the morning still (currently using ground beef in place of chicken) and medium diced pieces of bone in meat (was rotating pork riblets and chicken drumsticks, but ran out of riblets). Also, just to reiterate this again THERE ARE NO FARMS, BUTCHERS, OR HUNTERS HERE, AND A SINGLE GROCERY STORE.
