1. List 3 organs aside from liver. Brain, pancreas, heart, 2. Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ? Hope I got this right...2 oz heart, 1 oz liver and 1 oz other organ 3. What percent of the diet should be organ? 10% 4. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? I believe it was 1.5? And 1 oz I feel I failed this test - Devan

1. List 3 organs aside from liver. Brain, pancreas, heart,Brain and pancreas are definitely correct! Heart is technically a muscle, although it is very very important for a ferret's health. Any organ which "secrets" is considered an organ. Another commonly available organ is kidney.2. Organs should consist of approximately how much liver, and how much "other" organ? Hope I got this right...2 oz heart, 1 oz liver and 1 oz other organIt depends on how much a ferret eats, although your proportions are correct. 10% of their diet should be heart, and 10% should be "organ" (should be 5% liver and 5% other organ). This equates to 1.5 meals each week of heart, and 1.5 meals of half liver, half other organ.3. What percent of the diet should be organ? 10%Yup! Ideally, this 10% should be 5% liver and 5% other organ4. How many meals a week should be organ, and of those meals how much needs to be liver? I believe it was 1.5? And 1 ozYes! The "1oz" part depends on how much they are eating. For example, each of my ferrets eats 2oz a day of meat, so they get 3oz each per week of 1/2 liver and 1/2 other organ.I feel I failed this testYou did great! The whole point of these sorts of quizzes is to help you learn, and prepare you with all the information you will need as you continue feeding raw long-term to make sure your fuzzies get a healthy, balanced of diet. In the future, you are also allowed to search through the forums to find answers because you will learn a lot along the way through reading What is their diet right now, and what size chunks are they up to?

Well we're finishing off what prepackaged we prepared so no size change but I think we're ready to jump onto the regular size boneless meats. - Devan

Sorry I've been MIA, was in the middle of moving.
How is everything going with the new larger chunks?
If you could post your detailed menu for the week that would be great!

It's ok things have been rather hectic on our end as well trying to move out so we've had barely any free time (aside what we spare for the ferrets) I gave them breat fillet (uncooked of course) I didn't really see any try to eat it but Noa she got the concept really quickly and ate 1/3 of a single filet. - Devan

Trust me when I say I know how hectic (and annoying) moving is! We moved out of our apartment early September (with 2 weeks notice), then lived with my parents for a few weeks (basically camping out in their living room) and just moved into our house... Which is REALLY old and derelict! (We're hoping to finally get heat in the next day or two...) It can definitely be hard to switch when you're so busy (we just adopted a little boy and are switching him to raw) but the #1 most important thing is to make sure the menu is balanced! As long as they are getting the right number of organs meals, heart meals, bone-in meals, etc. You don't need to focus too much on trying to increase size, but definitely don't let them slide backwards

As of this current time for dinner tonight it will be hearts they had liver this morning and will be getting bone for a snack. However I have a question irrelevant to food...see we raised our ferrets on tile floors and in this building we have carpet...we need MASSIVE ADVICE on teaching our kin not to claw, poop and etc on the carpet... - Devan

Ha, ha... The house we just moved into has carpets and similar to your guys, mine have never ever had carpet before. It's like crack to them! They seriously love rolling around in it, burying their noses into it, and scratching it too. One thing you can try is putting vinyl floor mats (like the kind put under computer desk chairs) in the corners where they dig and poop most. Otherwise, maybe try posting a new thread on the forum so others weigh in. Mine are litter-perfect, and the carpets are already old and gross so I don't really care if they claw at it

I know you haven't responded to the previous post, but I'd really love both of you to do a quiz - it's up to you whether you want to do it together or separate (I personally think separate would be more fun). My fellow mentor @machan wrote this quiz and I think it's rather fantastic! Don't worry too much about the score - the goal is more to assess your strengths and weaknesses, and identify any potential gaps in your knowledge. >>QUIZ!!!<<

Hi, I'm just posting to find out whether you wanted to continue with the switch. Please let me know ASAP one way or another. If you want to continue the switch we will resume January 1. Otherwise, I will have an admin vault the thread. I know you have been very busy with the move, but it's time to get things going again!
