*UPDATE* A POOP! A GLORIOUS POOP! I've had Rocket caged with measured food, water, and a pee pad so I can get a good look at output. And she pooped! It was on the smaller side because she hasn't been eating quite as much, but it was still a good sized normal looking poop. I took her out, she had a few bites of soup, she toddled around, we cuddled, and she pooped again. Still on the smaller side, but normal in every other regard. I added a bit of pumpkin to her soup just to be sure things are moving on through. She wasn't up for very long, but she is seldom ever up for more than 20 minutes at a time. But she was bright eyed and attentive. She has freedom until I go to bed (in 4-5 hours) then I will cage her for the night so I can make sure she is still going to the bathroom. I really hope we are on the up & up from here. The previous owner still hasn't texted me back , so I don't know what her energy was like before she came into my care. What is considered normal for a 7 year old ferret regarding energy? (Up for how long? Actively playing, of perusing around sniffing?) - Keep in mind she has had less than stellar care up until now. However, even in the short time I've had her, there has been dramatic changes in her coat, is softer, shinier, and thicker. There are no words to describe how happy I am she is okay.

Well that is good news. As afr as staying up, maybe she will get more energy as her diet improves, Hopefully she has no major issues. Add a box or stacks of boxes, or do something different in her room. They like investigating new stuff. They do get bored and go back to bed. I was hoping my baby would keep my senior on the move, but she does not like her at all. >

My one senior keeps up quite well to Bear, but Rocket wants none of it. They still snuggle when they sleep though. Every other day we bring the ferrets in our bedroom at night, and we mess up the bed, and throw blankets and socks on the floor, and watch them try and stash the socks away. And I usually spend 2 hours in their playpen with them with some toys they only get while supervised. We're also trying to design a multi level tube maze with free cardboard tubes from carpet stores. Watching ferrets is like watching a cartoon animal.

Atreyu is my 7 yr old boy. He's not the healthiest (diagnosed with adrenal almost 2 yrs ago and managed to survive the DES shortage last fall) but he's a happy wee boy. He totters around sniffing things out, playing with his Dodger a year old rescue. He's not fond of rough play but he loves tube running and he especially loves running the tunnel out to the new play area. He seems to be up and about for about half hour to 45 min spurts. This morning he was having a really good day and he and Dodger were up playing for almost 2 hrs. I do think he did sneak off and cat-napped because he would disappear and then I would find him in the thick of the games a bit later. I've had a number of seniors who have enjoyed a good long life and though they may sleep a bit more, but they are active and enjoy puttering around and investigating various areas and seeing if their stashes have been changed. ciao

My eldest girl who is also 7, also has the same short spurts. She sleeps way more often than the others. But she is up for an hour or so in the morning and the another hour or so at night. I can find her puttering around enjoying her forays while telling the kits off every now and then. She barely eats an ounce a day but has maintained her weight since her switch to raw. She is slightly skinny but she is also insulinomic and adrenal so she has both of those against her but she keeps it up pretty well.

My 7 yr old also likes to potter and putter around. She has been adrenal for close to 3 years, and insulinoma(borderline) for a year. She is diet controlled as of yet. She doesn't play with the others so much, but she is the alpha and very conscious of her position lol
