Update: Still eating quail eggs but also having liver, heart, kidney, pancreas. Adding egg shells or bone meal, taurine and minerals.
I think I may need to stop the chicks. They temporarily block her up as they traverse the intestines (scooting, many unproductive attempts or tiny stools). Because of all her past intestinal issues (bloat, blockages resloved naturally, blockage caused by the uterus) I worry that further irritation to the intestinal tract is possible.
What do you think?

what do u think it may be----- the fur on chicks?
Does uterine cancer happen to spayed ferrets?
(I am hoping your little one the best)

Usually, chicks help clean out hair and other things...note I said usually. How a ferret with IBD/IBS might react to them might be entirely different than a ferret with a stable digestive system. ciao

I came back to review her history/timeline from the posts I made here. I thought I would add another update as it's been an interesting learning experience.
(Quick summary: female, intact ferret age 4 diagnosed with blockage or intussusception via handheld ultrasound. During surgery it was found that her uterus was causing the intestinal blockage so it was removed, sent to a lab and we found that she had an aggressive uterine carcinoma. This thread was documenting her long recovery and my varied attempts to find things she would eat.)
- The DOC's are definitely out; each time we've tried, she's had difficulty passing the remnants - She will eat mice and young rats (weaned, pups) without problem - She also eats balanced MBO grinds (only wants duck & turkey though) - She will eat turkey heart & liver as well as chicken liver - She has times of not doing well, refusing grinds and whole prey - When that happens, she goes back to only eating quail eggs for weeks up to months until she feels better
(That's her in my avatar, just before she went in for her surgery)

Wow, she's still with you, that's wonderful! They must have managed to remove all the cancer, don't you think? Or do you think that's still why she doesn't feel well from time to time? I'm glad there's food that she's willing to eat when she's not feeling well, and that it seems to be enough to sustain her.

Blue I am assuming the cancer did not spread as it would have appeared in liver, lungs or brain. I've become really sensitive to her signals, figuring she knows what is best. Her mesenteric lymph node is fairly reactive and I think when she wants only eggs, she is wanting to "heal" that. However, that's just my sense of what is happening. I have a local source for quail eggs from a homesteader - she makes her own organic feed and I get the eggs unwashed and not refrigerated so no loss of nutrients.
