Ok, I will upload those pics as soon as I get them
Meanwhile, am I adding the wing tips to the meals or as it's own meal? And how much per ferret and how often a week?
Also, is it ok to NOT blend the heart and stuff? What is this "other" organ you speak off?
Thank you!!! (dance)

Wing tips will be a meal of their own. They may balk at the bone for a minute, try enticing them with some oil or egg if they do. This is a totally new texture but not a new protein so it should go okay. Right now, we will do wing tips until they are eating it well and then we will try to move on to another protein. You will feed them the same amount as you have been feeding, 1-3 ozs per girl, 2-4 ozs per boy.
It is okay to NOT blend up the heart and liver but you run the risk of one of your ferrets running off with all the heart and then 3 of your ferrets don't get enough taurine in their diet. With groups I usually suggest blending up at least the organs. If you decide not to blend up the heart, then feed one and half meal of a heart a week. with the one half meal of heart, you add the other half meal of organs to make it a full meal and then you would just feed another meal of organs later in the week.
Another organ is any other hormone secreting organ in the body. This includes ovaries, uterus (very tough to work with) testicles, spleen, kidney, pancreas and brain. Kidney seems to be easiest for others to find, I use kidney and brain in addition to my liver.

Hey Es, I really need you to start updating more often. The waiting list for the mentoring program is getting long and I cannot take on another mentee while I have two but I am sitting here twiddiling my thumbs while waiting for updates. Even when on bone, I need an update at least every week and right now you should be updating every 2-3 days. If you are not interested in the program or need to put it on a backseat I can have an admin put your switch in the vault. If you are ready again in the future you can apply for a mentor again later. Its been 13 days since your last update. I really need to know what is going with your ferrets so that we can make sure they are healthy and moving along at a good pace. With updates this far apart I don't know whats going on.

Hopefully this works. Here are the backside pics as well as the normal belly ones, and I did not edit the pics so that you could see what was really going on!

Everyone looks really good. Annie might be on the skinny side or it could be just be her shape? Does she have a slim build in general?
What are they eating now, have you moved them on to bones? How big are the chunks?

The chunks are still kind of thumb nail size, only because they'll eat it faster and I have been trying to get them to gain weight. Annie was always a little thick in the belly (in a good way), and now she's skinny since I started this, but she eats all of her food, but not always right away.

That's good. If they are finishing all of it give them more. Make sure to always have food down as well. When we start them on bones and bigger chunks, they will fill up faster and stay full longer as well.

That is awesome. So, is there an easy way to crush the bones? They eat it but, remember how I told you Ink will sometimes INHALE his food? I am scared he will cut his throat/stomach with the bigger bits. Or can their lil bodies handle it???

He might get a piece stuck but it's pretty rare. The best way is to make the bones big enough that he has to slow down and chew. You can also start smaller but since they do eat bone bigger is probably better. A good cleaver will smash most bones. If you can split the bones length wise to expose the marrow but keeping the integrity of the bone.

His stomach will be fine. If they happen to get something stuck it will be in their mouth and very rarely throat but ferrets are smart creatures and once they do something wrong the first time they don't do it again.

Ok, so I could give them whole chicken wings, and they could eat the entire thing, bones and all? With out mashing the bones???

Yep! A whole chicken wing, whole quail, etc. You only need to mash bones to get them started in bone. Once they start eating them, I increase the size until you can put big pieces in their. I still break pieces up into at least 4 pieces so they all have their own piece.

Would each of the ferrets eat their own chicken wing? Could I give it to them as one of the meals?
