You won't get a grinder that can handle the big ungulates their bones are too dence and you will only burn out the motor or totally destroy your blade. You would need an industrial grinder for those. If you're going to use ground meats you can, as previously suggested use egg shell. I use chicken bone in my beef mix or any other mix that I decide to throw together. It's easily ground and very accessible. I've done it with beef, pork and I did it with lamb too. ciao Thank you, I have some quick questions- say today I wash off some bones and save them.. how long are they 'good' for- do they go bad? If I was to grind them, how long would they be good for? What is the most effective way to make sure every little bit of eggshell is crushed up if I do crushed up eggshell? I was thinking a morter and pestel but I have no idea where to buy a smooth one (all the ones ive seen seem pretty pointless as they resemble lava rocks with a bunch of holes and everything) I know my mom has a marble one (that ive wanted forever) but it took her forever to find it, if I remember correctly... maybe just because she was looking for one the same green marble as her counter tops, not sure..

Bone in meats that they can eat are: cornish hen, chicken, duck necks, wing tips, ribs, rabbit, turkey necks, ribs, wing tips, almost any tail bone, pork rib ends, fish(try to stick to smaller, fresh water fish, any whole prey. And yes, you can actually chop through most of these Either with a good pair of kitchen shears, a chef's knife, or a cleaver.

You should also be able to get a marble mortar/pestle in most kitchen stores.
