It is, sadly. So I've been making Jeff do their meds and hand feeding. Trieed to go buy some of those doctor masks, but they were out. Ugh. Oh well, they are still getting their pork soupies tonight. Haven't tried anything besides chicken with them so let's hope it goes well!

Oooh- that's harsh When you are better, I think it's time to both thicken up the soups, and introduce another protein!

Woo! I'm getting better already. And...PORK WAS A HUGE HIT!!! Bonkers ate the soupies! Along with Booth and Riley. I added about 7 small chunks in there and just slid the bowl up to them in their cuddle-e cup and they all 3 started chowing down. I only took their food out about 10 minutes before hand. Lincoln ate a little bit of it, but wanted me to hand feed him but I couldn't because of being sick and Jeff did a little bit. Loki is definitely not used to new things and wouldn't lick it off our fingers, even with scruffing. Though, just like Bonkers, I bet she'll come around. I'm so excited about this turn of events. And I know I've only fed them soupies a few times...but I swear Booth's coat is the shiniest and smoothest it has ever been! We have chicken breasts I'll be fixing this week - probably Wednesday - and I was wondering if I should make soupies with half of it, and do half chunks or 3/4 soup and 1/4 chunks?

I should warn you they may not take to the breasts after having thighs and pork Those two have far more flavour for ferrets ;D An experiment if you are up to it. Since they've all taken to the pork so well. Try just cutting it up into little slivers, and putting a wee bit of soupies on top of it. It's quite possible you might be able to go a bit faster since there is a meat they actually really like! If you want to do the breasts, try the slivers topped with soup with that as well. They are starting to recognize raw as food now, so they just might be ready for that next step. If not- you can always do mainly soup with a few slivers in it.

Hmm alright! That's okay...we like the pork more too Perhaps I'll stock up on that more haha. I think I'll make a TINY bit of soupies from the chicken and have slivers of chicken then. I'll have to make soupies for Lincoln and Loki anyways since those two still wouldn't eat the last soup. I think Lincoln might eat it next time tho since he's back with the others (Loki is still quarantined until she's introduced to the others), so I bet he will follow the lead of the other 3.

Hmm, they all licked it and seemed interested, but it definitely didn't turn out as well as the pork. Lincoln didn't eat much of it and Loki still wouldn't try it, so we may have to force her the next time. Going shopping Wed for meat to stock up on!

With the slivers, you might have to pop a couple of pieces in their mouths for them to realize they can actually eat these funny things in their soupies ;D

Oh, I was also wondering...how much raw will they need per day? From the previous HF forum, I calculated for 2 girls and 3 boys roughly 20-25 oz.
If that's the case that's almost one package of chicken (3 breasts/$4) a day. Does that sound about right?

My males eat from 2-4 oz per day, my females from 1-3 oz per day. If your's are young, larger, and very active, they'll fall on the higher end of this spectrum. Obviously, if they are 3-4 years or older, they are less active, and toward the lower end. My tiny girls(around 1lb or so each) only eat about 1 1/2 oz each. My 2 1/2 lb girl who is older eats over 3 oz on a regular basis. Although she has started slowing down a bit. She'll be 3 in May. Be aware, though. Once they are fully raw, their appetites will be almost double what I've listed fro 2-4 months ;D . It's like their bodies are trying to make up for all that lost nutrition. During the switch with mine, 4 of them(2 male, 2 female) ate approx 14oz of meat per day ;D Basically, if they finish everything you give them, they need a bit more. If there's more than 2-3 chunks left at next meal time, you can either give them less regularly, or just less for the next meal Going smack in the middle for your's would be around 4 for the girls, and 9 for the boys, so 13 oz per day.

Not a clue, since they can't ship north of the border, I've never bothered checking them out ;D

That would cause a problem haha I think I'll order one once the ferrets are switched more. So Jackie is shipping me the Wysong. How do I go about doing it? Do I just add it to their food until I get them on raw, or do I substitute their food with it? Also, I added too much pumpkin to the soup so it's orange. Booth didn't mind it too much, but nobody else seemed to care for it. Woops! Also could be that it's chicken instead of the pork loins. I'll see how the bowl looks in the morning. I hope they at least eat a bit more since that's all they are getting until I wake up lol

With the Wysong's you can either crumble it into their kibble dry, or you can make a soupie out of it, or both! With the pumpkin, if their poopies were orange, yeah, a bit too much ;D It's really an individual thing. Some adapt to it easier than others. Good idea on leaving whatever meat in the cage for at least 12 hours, too! Out of curiosity, I've just found out ferrets do really well when only fed twice a day on kibble like Evo! Not sure which one you are feeding now?
