I know raw and live is the best bet for a long health happy life for your ferrets. I just want to know is Evo a good food to feed for now or for a snack before I make the change I was told it was one of the best foods I could give after the real thing. Is this true or am I way off. I want to know am I helping not hurting. When I switched to Evo my older ferret hooligan was like a kit again. He is so much more playful and happy. He took to the food right off the bet and loves it. I did my research on this food but I still want to know what you guys think?

Among kibble, you're absolutely right! Its among the best. In my opinion, I think it is the very best kibble BUT I know it got bought out by another company and will be changing ingredients soon; so please keep an eye on the ingredients when you go to buy it next time. Here is a super helpful chart: www.ferretuniverse.com/care/food.aspIt shows all the popular ferret kibble diets and compares them side by side. The Wysong II is a kibble, but is MUCH more expensive than EVO; not for any good reason, I feel. The Wysong I is a freeze dried raw. Freeze dried can also be a great option if you can't or aren't ready to go straight raw, I'm sure others will chime in on some great sources. Good luck!

It is really good. I would say the best. I have the original ingredients list saved in an old email. If you want I can email it to you. You should try freeze dried raw though.

If you can manage it, yes freeze dried raw is the next best to real fresh meat. You can get Stella and Chewy's, Wysong's Archetypal 1 ferret, AFS.

They did change the ingredients in EVO. But they added more meat ingredients from what I can see. I currently feed this to my one boy who absolutely hates the raw, been trying to switch for almost 6 months now.

The only thing is that with EVO you will most likely get soft or runny poops bc of high protein content. I would suggest that you put water in the kibble so they don't eat it dry.

Their poop seems to be fine its not watery or runny. My older ferret is the same way with raw he hates it. I let him smell it and he is like that's not food get it away. My kits love raw they are like yum yum yum more please. hooligan seem to be doing better on this Evo stuff i just wish he would get into the raw when I offer it.

Have you tried the "scruff 'n' stuff" ;D ? Make a raw puree, scruff him, and dab it on his nose/lips/gums. Do it over, and over, and over. At first, 2 or 3 times in one sitting, let him play, grab him and do it again. Do this several times during the playtime. What you are doing is getting him to at least taste it. And hopefully shortly after, he'll start licking it from your finger, then a spoon, then a bowl. After that you work in some slivers of meat, and steadily increase the size.

I did that with him when he didnt want to eat his old food and I got the hint he needs a change. Me and my hubby are going to go meat shopping for the dog and the ferrets this weekend. so ill try the scruff and stuff.

It does sometimes take a great deal of patience convincing them you are NOT poisoning them ;D Took one of mine almost 6 weeks to believe his raw soup wasn't poisonous
