I am sorry to report that Koufos was helped to the bridge this afternoon.
I cam home for lunch to find him sitting in a pool of his own Pee and Poop.
I cleaned him up and gave him 40cc of Subq fluids. I took him to work with me, By the time I got to work he had peed it all out.
Went to the vet to get a 2nd Opinion and his outlook was not good. He said that his kidneys were gone. Bun levels had increase exponentially despite the continual Subq fluids we have been giving him.
In the end I am not sure what his problem was But it started long before his Root canal.
He was literally constantly peeing out as he rested. He had not control or any idea he was doing it.
Koufos was rescued from a pet store in Reno, Nevada. He was the tiniest little ferret in with all these larger ferrets. He was not even eating kibble. When we took him home we had to bottle/syringe feed him. Funny how we went out of our lives the same way he cam in.
He surely would have died at the pet store as they would not have given him the extra time he needed to be fed and moved onto kibble. In fact the store knew this because when My other half showed the slightest bit on interest in him He was suddenly 50% off.
Koufos was Deaf but not a wardie. He NEVER EVER in his entire life bit any person not even in play. He was a little sweetheart and will be missed. Every time I lose a ferret I can't help but feel like a huge piece of my heart is missing. You never know any heartache like the one when you lose a ferret. People who have never owned and loved a ferret would never understand this. It is completely different from losing a person, Dog, Or Cat. I can't explain it but it is so different.
Every time I go through this I wonder how I will ever go through the 7 more I have at home. He passed in his mother and fathers's arms and he is no longer in pain and misery. In the end it was the right thing to do.
DIP Koufos.
