Is there any chance he will get better? I realize he wont be completely back to normal but hes not eating on his own and has a hard time getting to water and the newspaper/litter pan. His breathing also seems a bit labored. If this was caused by insulinoma wouldn't he have continued to get better?

I wish that I could tell you that your Rikku will get better. Insulinoma can be managed but doesn't go away. Lymphoma is Cancer. If Rikku does have Lymphoma and your vet did not seem sure. It's just a matter of what stage he is at. I'm linking a thread on Lymphoma for you: miamiferret.org/lymphoma.htmChemo and surgery are options but so terribly hard on a little ferret. It was not an option for us, due to my Ponce's age and condition. Let some of our Senior Ferrents help address this and see if anyone has some comforting advice. In this case, I'm tagging miamiferret2 for some more info.

He got a bit better again. He started eating on his own and not struggling to move around but I don;t think hes going to get much better than that at this point.

He is up there in age. It sounds like he's not giving up. As I said, when he can't get to the litter box, or at least out of bed to go, it's time to think about letting him go, as he'll have no quality of life left. It sux, but sadly he may get to that point. My opinion. Sometimes they just go in their sleep. We've been through both. Wishing you peace.

My mom gave me a speech this morning about letting him go now that he hasn't gotten any better. He is still getting up to use the bathroom but he really struggles. My mom said she cried last night watching him slowly make his way towards the newspaper. I think I will bring him to the vet today to have him put to sleep.

I'm so sorry, it's never easy to see your babies sick or hurt. I'm sure you will do the right thing for yours. Lots of ferret snuggles and kisses. Lighting a candle to light the path of what to do for you.
