Ive recently adopted a new ferret, Ralphie hes such a sweetie, a silver mitt, very big and strong, and loves anything raw. Im still deciding on what to feed him, its very hard for me to get all the different bits and pieces for a frankenprey diet, so im sor of thinking whole prey plus commercial raw? Ralphie is 1 and a half kilos or 3.3 pounds, how many grams of raw food would you expect him to eat in a day? Or how many mice/rats/chicks etc would he eat per day? thanks

Congratulations on your new boy Ralphie. We love pictures, pretty please. The average grown boy will eat 3-4 ounces of raw a day. That converts to 85-113 grams (if I did this correctly). They eat a little more in the Winter, a little less in the spring. They may eat more in the beginning of a switch and then taper off. I don't feed whole prey. bitbyter can answer that question better. I did find a thread that says Sherry's grown boys may eat 2 or 3 mice a day, but wait for Jason to answer.

Thanks for the link, I've had a look, and it looks useful. HOwever i am not using frankenprey at all. Thanks poncesmom, I should think Ralphie will eat the higher amount of that, he's such a big boy! I think I am going to go with some raw mixes from kiezebrink along with some chicks and mice
