Hi everyone, i'm wondering if you guys could do me a huge favour!
I plan on going to the supermarket/ butcher tonight to begin my raw only diet for my fuzzies.
Could anyone share there diet plans on menus with me? just so I know what kind of things to put on my shopping list.
ps. I have 4 ferrets, should i be giving them 2 meals a day? im used to leaving kibble in there cage 24/7
thanks

I feed twice a day for my four, seems to work out well. As far as shopping, whatever you can find, my store I can only really get
turkey (gizzards, drumsticks, thigh, breast, whole turkeys if they are on sale)
chicken (livers, gizzards, whole, any part of meat)
pork (I usually buy loin and use it as boneless but you can buy ribs too)
lamb (I don't buy, too expensive)
duck (whole)
cornish game hens

Mon: Turkey hearts Tues: pork rib ends Wed: chicken/turkey necks am/ liver/organ pm Thurs: whole prey Fri: beef chunks Sat: cornish hen Sun: rabbit
That menu is very fluid. I mix and match according to what I am able to get, and what they've had earlier that week. But generally bone in days stay bone in, and muscle stays muscle. Example- one week, they'd get beef chunks, another might be goat, or lamb. Chicken necks may become chicken wings, etc.

ok... so i went to the shop yesterday evening and i managed to get hold of: 1 whole chicken 1 pack of chopped up pig heart 1 pack of ox liver (i wasnt sure if i could give this to my ferrets? it was only 30p so its ok if not) 1 pack of cheap fatty mince- to help Charlie put on weight. and 3 rolls of pig skin. I need to start by blending it all up (so they will eat it) I have 4 ferrets and I was wondering if you could help me decided how much of each ingredient I should blend together to make 1 portion. Thanks

For right now, I'd stick with one protein. Some ferret's do have food sensitivities, and by combining everything, if your ferret is one of those, you'd have no idea which food triggered it. The "fatty mince", what's in it? Straight fat, or a high fat meat mince? What meat? I'd start with the chicken personally, Just strip and puree some,or even chop it up to a ground size, and try that first. You may have to scruff and rub some on their nose/lips/gums to get them tasting it, and the puree is usually easier to do that with

Any meat product is good to give And yes, if he'll take ox liver, that's fine too. Try the puree or minced up chicken. If he tolerates that well, you can add either the heart or the liver a few days later, then again in a few days, either add some of the mince, or serve it by itself.

Don't forget- it does take some a bit of time to work up jaw strength to be able to crunch up bones. So if they do it right off, that's great If not- they will be shortly!
