They're doing great! Do you think you can take a picture of their food and a picture of their slivers either on your hand or beside something like a quarter do we can see how big they are?
They're doing very well, just be sure to keep moving them up as fast as they will let you. They are very adorable also, I say we need more pictures, hehehe.
And a general note, make sure you leave food in their cages at all times so they can snack if they get hungry. During the beginning stages they will likely eat ridiculous amounts of food and make sure you let them, they need those nutrients. If they eat everything you give them then give them more until they start leaving food. Always make sure they have leftovers and if they don't feed more until they do. And after they eat if there is about an ounce left then leave that in their cage. The soup is good at room temp for 6-8 hours and ferrets won't eat spoiled meat so there's nothing to worry about. But it's important they always have access to food, their digestive track is only 2-4 hours so they will usually eat every couple hours.
You're doing very well, and you're keeping it documented good also. Great job, keep up the good work

Yes as they have finished everything I have increased by an oz each time. Though they have left some of the pieces of meat so they were not actually completely out. The soup I left out this am was still partially frozen so it should be good until I get home, Sir began eating a bit of it as soon as I put it out so I guess cold food does not bother him.

Finally home, settled Sir and Missy playing happily and pics of the pieces as requested. The gizzard pieces The chicken sliversish
Poops are tiny and urine is tons. Very much reversed from kibble. (Now to just figure out what to do with the left over I have!) They again had the soup gone when I got home and left a few of the slices of meat. Missy ate a couple of ounces of soup as soon as I put out the fresh stuff and Sir grabbed a couple of gizzard slices and munched those before coming out to play. Water bowl looks like it is never touched but I clean it and refill it twice a day anyway. Did not find any food stashed in the cage tonight either. They seem to love their new tunnel and I'm hoping they tire out soon, I'm exhausted!

@julesalot I don't think I can post in your switching thread but I noticed you plan an order for haretoday and I just wanted to make sure you are aware they only guarantee any order to arrive frozen if it is at least 30lbs.

How can I tag people. I would have liked to have tagged Jules to make sure she saw that but I couldn't figure out how. This morning the bowl was completely empty not even any meat slices left which means they ate 12oz of soup and 2 ozs of meat slices yesterday. Today I upped the soup to 7 ozs this morning and 1.5 ozs of meat slices. I will see how they do with that tonight and up as needed. I also have the kids check to make sure they have food between 5-8 so they will not be long with out it before I get home if they do run out, which has not happened yet. Missy feels like she has gained a lot of weight, I'll weigh her tonight.

Those are good sized pieces! Way to go Their poops are smaller because there are no fillers in what they are eating now, and they're peeing more because of all the water in what they eat, eventually their body will adjust to the water content and stop peeing as much, they will become more hydrated. Yes I know haretoday isnt guaranteed frozen, thank you for being concerned, that's very nice of you If I do order from them (it'll be at least 1 month) ive asked someone who lives around me and also feeds raw if she wants to get some stuff too and split the cost and she said yes so hopefully we will get enough to keep it cold. If we have less than 30 lbs I'll probably just pay for more ice packs ($1 each). Are they both eating those slivers readily? If not, they're pretty big so you could try making them a bit smaller and see how they do. But if they are eating them well then keep them at that size and start adding more.

Oh and to tag people, I'm not sure how to explain so I took a screenshot and circled it. You click on that then type in who you want to tags username and it will show up like @julesalot

Hover your cursor over the Member's name and see how it is spelled. For example, Sherry will show up as admin and Therese shows up as tmd. So, you put the @sign in front of the name and if the name posts in bold, you've done it correctly. FireAngel as an example

I have been using the taptalk app on my iPad and I have to say it is not the easiest thing. I am going back to just using the web. Thank you guys for answering. :thankyou:

But if they are eating them well then keep them at that size and start adding more. I don't think Missy is eating those pieces at all really, but they have started getting the really thick soup now which is really more like mushy ground stuff so we will see how that goes. Yesterday they really did not eat much of anything. I had put out 7ozs of soup and 1.5 ozs of meat pieces and when I got home there was at least 5 ozs of soup left and most of the meat. I put out another 7 ozs last Igbo with the same amount of meat as earlier thinking they would be starving and I would wake up to it being gone this am but there was at least 2 oz of soup left and I think all of the meat. Funny how they can go from downing at least 1o-12 ozs in a day between them to maybe only 5 oz. They did not act odd or anything last night and played well and hard so I'm not worried about that and they are pooping and peeing fine. I am going to make lamb soup/mush today for them as they will finish the chicken soon and I have to work this weekend so I will pretty much not be home until Sunday night again. Ill have everything set up so hubby and the kids can feed them easily though. They have been kibble free for days now. It is a good feeling. (dance)

It's a wonderful feeling to see them eat and to lose the kibble.
Keep in mind that with Spring here, they will eat less and lose some of their winter weights. Often when a ferrent begins a switch in the Spring, they aren't aware of the Springtime changes. Then they become frighened to see their ferrets eat less and lose weight.
You have a boy and a girl. Sir should eat about 3-4 ounces a day and Missy will only eat about 2 ounces. That's a general guideline. Also, once they are eating raw, they are getting alot of nutrients and may have one big meal and one little meal. I leave food out at all times because my two girls eat their bigger meal in the middle of the night. My other three eat the most at breakfast.

That's a general guideline. It's definitely hard to gauge how much they will eat when right now, I'm still introducing new flavor and sizes and shapes for them and yes the weather change and they are still only 4 months old so still growing but I am doing my best to make sure they have food available to them all the time and not waste much either. I think Missy is actually eating more than Sir honestly but since he eats the meat pieces and she doesn't yet they may be eating the same amount. I believe I read somewhere that while they are still growing they could easily eat 6 or more ozs a day right now each. Which would be about right from what I have experienced this week. Hopefully next week I will have a better grasp on it.

At four months, they will eat alot more than the average grown ferret. Maybe two plates would work better. One with tiny pieces mixed into the soup for Missy and then one with larger pieces for Sir. gfountain has a baby girl, who is grown now. She almost ate her out of house and home, lol.

So I just spent a good couple of hours with them and I did notice Missy grabbing a few of the larger pieces of meat and then taking them to stash for later so I think she is adjusting. I made up the lamb mush for them and they should start that tomorrow night. I only had 16oz of ground lamb so I threw in an ounce of chicken slices plus some gizzard pieces before sticking them in the freezer to make up at least 5 oz servings. I hate that I won't be here to see what they do with the lamb though! Maybe I can sneak a few minutes in at home before going to my moms tomorrow night. >
