I GOT THEM TO EAT SOUPIE! Now, that's not fading it took a lot of prodding, but I got them to eat it!
I will check that store out when I berry up with my mother for mom's day sometime on the next week or two! Thank you!
Found unseasoned duck and butchered it ... proved to me I need a better knife for butchering ... How much if the duck can they eat? The legs seemed very large ... Butchered all the quail and didn't tenderize the bones. We'll see how that goes.
I will get them weighed soon. Sorry it's a little late. My fiance got injured badly at work,v so I hand to baby her a little more than normal (and aol animal duties fall on me ...). I wad going to do that yesterday, but butchering the big bird took longer than I expected!
Added beef and pork into my rotation this week as well. So that makes chicken/CGH, quail, beef, pork, & duck. I still want to do rabbit ... but if can't find it, then I'm nit sure what I'll out there. Will that be enough variety?

Oh no! I don't know what your fiancee does, but I hope she's okay!
That's definitely enough variety! We recommend at least 3-4 different proteins per week so you're well beyond that. Hopefully the H Mart will have some rabbit if you can get to it.
As for duck, they can for sure eat the neck, tip and middle section of wings, and ribs. They will probably not be able to do the legs or the upper portion of the wings. It really depends on the size of the duck as well though. Some ducks are HUGE, while others aren't really much bigger than chickens so it's mostly a judgement call. Any bones that look like they might be a little big but still doable, you can always just smash up a bunch for them.
Any bones that seem way too big, you can just cut the meat off (along wit the breast) and portion for muscle meals.
Congrats on the soupie too!

Also thought I'd add that Desiree confirmed the HMart in Aurora has butchered rabbit

Weights Claire 22.40 LEON 33.30 Daisy 26.07 Peach 28.25 Jake 33.97 xXxX Argis 38.55 Belrand 33.47
Everyone had lost weight, except for Belrand who is still a growing kit. Everyone feels fine, expect Jake. He's staying to feel bony again and it's mildly disconcerning. When should he start gaining weight with the implant?
Sorry i haven't been active. My fiance and I birth work in a grocery store. She's a manager. While unloading a truck, she went into the produce area and the rhetoric jack skipped and pinned get against the wall. Besides sine nasty bruises, she's dune now (thank God!). I should be able to keep you more updated again.
Will probably be heading to H MART before my vacation. I am leaving the fur babies for 5 days from midday May 22 through an unknown time on the 23. I will be having a friend come over and watch and take care of them twice a day. He will be getting a VERY thorough rub though if what they need. Any suggestions on what to brief him on? He's had ferrets before, just not raw feed ones.
Also, the big cage us reading a little less, probably because of the weather?

That much weight loss is normal this time of year... Although of course it varies with the climate and individual ferret and such. My girl Mocha went from 28.8 oz in January to 23.5 oz in March... But of course hasn't even started shedding yet and still looks like a polar bear! As for Jake, I wouldn't say his weight is anywhere in the danger zone - Marshall males tend to be between 2-3 lbs. Some boys are Jake's current weight at their "normal" size. I wouldn't start worrying unless you can actually see his ribs/spine. Having said that, the implant does take 6 weeks to kick in, so you should see him start to gain weight in a month or so. In the meantime, you can get extra food into him by hand feeding soupies (with or without egg mixed in) so that should help. I'm glad your fiancee is okay, that does sound scary though! Technically, once ferrets are on chunks you're only required to update every 3 days, although of course you can post as much as you want That's exciting you're going on vacation! As long as your meals are clearly labeled and your friend remembers to take them out to thaw, I think he'll be okay. Maybe let him know that raw poops are a lot different from kibble poops so he doesn't freak out and think something's wrong? When my girls lost weight they started eating a lot less too. Since my meals were pre-portioned I ended up wasting a bunch of food until the next round of cutting/portioning meat. >< How are the boys doing with their organs?

Jake feels a little more bony than I'd like, but I am not sure exactly what is a safe weight for him to be at. Just worried is all. If he loses much more, than I will be worried.
The boys who have actually started eating more again. They are up to 4 ounces instead of 3.5 ounces. They are eating their soup only when it has a bunch of stuff added. I am going to start weining them off of the salmon oil and egg. Probably less salmon oil first and then egg? Not 100% sure exactly how to do it. Just glad they are eating soupie! YAY!
Cool. He hasn't had ferrets in a little, but he loves when I talk about them! I am going to run him through everything rather thoroughly before we head out. I am supper nervous about leaving them. Not that I don't trust him but, you know. They are my babies. . . During our vacation, am I going to have to update you? I am bringing Argis and Belrand with us, so I will have them (kinda to alleviate some of his work, and I love my spoiled boys, lol). I can update on them?
I am looking into getting some lamb chunks too. Not sure if it'll be a permanent addition to their diet, but I can get some ($8lb for soup chunks). I also can get lamb heart and liver for about $9 a pair. Not sure if I should try this or just stick with chicken oragans?

Trying new organs never hurts! I bet if you take the salmon oil and egg out of the soup and they're hungry they'll just eat it anyway. I would recommend putting a couple drops on top of the soup so they smell it as they eat it.
Neither he nor you needs to update me while you're gone (it is a vacation after all), however you can let him know he's free to join the forum if he has any questions for me while you're away. Just let me know sometime beforehand which dates you'll be gone.

My vacation is technically from the 22nd through the 30th. I am only going to be gone the 22nd-26th though. So for those five days he will be taking care of them. I will mention him joining this group in case he's worried. I shall see what he says.
I need to make more organ meals so I will not add anything extra this time and see how it goes.

Oh no! I really hope you find Leon! A squeaky toy might help too, most fuzzies will come running when they hear one.
I'm glad to see that everyone is maintaining their weights, and that Jake's is up. Have you been hand feeding him or adding soupies to his diet?
How big are the chunks you are feeding to your big cage?

Leon find his way home and crawled into the carrier I left out for him with his blanket in it! Smelled like home! He's all muddy and has grass seeds suck in his tail (and smells like one trees), but seems okay. Going to watch him, because he took a nasty fall out that window. He's been fed up on chicken and duck (he was super skinny when I find him at 3 this morning when I came home from lunch to look for him).
As for my big cage. I was giving them whole wing and leg pieces of both the chicken and duck (thigh and upper arm cut at the joints). I butchered them another chicken, this time cutting more meat off. I'll see how they do in these because those are how big there slivers are normally. Might have just jumped a little took fast for them.
And as for Jake's weight, I haven't really done anything except add a little more fix into their meals, by like .25.

Also, Argis can magically hear now ... like as if two days ago MAX. He's reacting to squeaker and noises. He was deaf when we got him. I tested him with squeaker, screams, vacuum, clapping, etc. No reaction. His ears have perked up and everything (they used to be flat against his head). Is there something that could explain this? I'm really confused ... my fiance suggested it might have been his diet since he is poking good and acting like a ferret finally. He was eating friskies cat food when we got him.
They don't have a problem with the bones, just not eating the big chunks. Weirdos.
