For those of you who don't know. DES was available for ordering for a brief window of about two weeks at the beginning of March, 2015. We have learned in the last 24hrs that many of those orders have been cancelled by the company.
One of our Admins who lives in Australia has contacted the manufacturer of DES. Apparently there is a full shipment waiting in Australia for shipping to the U.S but the new contracted carrier (UPS) does not have any refrigerated shipping containers available.
We are theorizing that this might be due to the backlog on the West Coast caused by the Dock Workers strike that has recently ended.

I'm sorry....but excuses are all we're getting. This company totally lacks any integrity. How unfortunate that so many ferrets rely on them for their life ciao

Still looks like they are taking orders on their website. I hope my 5-pack was not canceled. I just made a 50% deposit with the vet.
Fingers crossed.

I hope ferrets don't end up dying over a bunch of union BS.

Guys, this is truly scary to me. I just cant bring myself to have my ferret injected with something that is not natural. Don't throw rotten eggs at me. I guess each person has to figure out what they think is best. May pay for it long run.

Dying from adrenal disease is not natural....and horrible. Sorry, I'm all for natural when possible but to leave a ferret untreated is cruel. The Des or Superlorin implant corrects or helps correct an unnatural procedure...altering, spaying, castrating. If you want to call on something that's not natural take a look at your ferret who has been altered so young that no matter what it's guaranteed to die from this disease. Turning down a possible solution for a disease created because you must have an altered descented ferret presents a problem to me. I'm not throwing eggs. I've watched ferrets die from this disease. I'm seeing a ferret who doesn't have to die now, die because I don't have access to this implant. ciao

So, my new vet is unable to get these in, as it turns out, but he is working REALLY hard to get my Jake one and he hasn't even seen my ferret yet! How amazing is that? Worst case senario, we have to wait three weeks, but he is trying to bribe the college to get him one cheap, and that is AMAZING! I am feeling blessed to have run into this amazing vet <3

@princesscat that's wonderful! It is so important, and a blessing, to have a vet who cares about your fuzzies as much as you do! I hope he can get the implant for you soon! If not, 3 weeks isn't too far away!

If not, 3 weeks isn't too far away! That is exactly my thoughts! I can't believe how kind this man is (especially after the last two vets I've been to!). He really cares! Also, the fact that Jake isn't an extreme case helps, and makes it so he can wait a little longer too.
