I used to use this stuff a long time ago. It's expensive, so I wasn't always consistent with it. I did read on a couple of obscure sites about ferrets losing their hair while being on it, but I never saw any such reaction nor any other bad effects from using it. Yet something bothered me about putting chemicals in their water to make them smell better--especially because there weren't any ingredients listed. Later on there were, but it was like "propylene glycol, enzymes, etc" non descriptive crap. Anyway, my mom used to always say that it made a big difference. I never noticed a difference, myself... For sure, the smell is WAY better with them on raw. But it would be nice if it was even less stinky. I searched all over this and the old forum (this time making sure to check more than the last 7 days ) but I couldn't really find anything on it. Does anyone here use it? Know how it works? Have concrete reasons why they would or wouldn't use it? I never bothered. I was going to, but after talking to a number of people who'd actually tried it, decided against it. They mentioned it also gave the water a metallic taste, and their ferrets didn't drink as much with it as without it.

I read somewhere that whatever is in that stuff is bad for ferrets. I love the way they smell. Sonny barely smells though.

I personally don't care to add weird chemicals to their water, I'd save the money and invest in an air purifier, or some febreeze instead.

Eh, I decided that whatever it is, it's probably not good. IMO ferret urine doesn't really smell (unless you put your nose in it). And on raw poop isn't bad either.

I personally wouldn't add any more chemicals to water than is already there. Considering all the health issues that these little ones have, how much chemicals they can't avoid, why add something you don't need to add. I guess the line is...would you drink it? if not, why make your ferret drink it . ciao

Also in the never bothered to try it group, not really cool with adding random things to their water and ferrets have an odor, it's just something you live with imo although mine now don't really smell at all on raw unless you directly sniff them.

Right now, the only one that smells bad it Thor and that's because the brat poofed. I don't think bi odor would do anything for that Lady "B" smells but that's because she has cancer...nothing can be done for that either ciao

I was thinking of getting this, glad I never did though. Cecil has pretty pungent poops, but that's the only thing that smells. I like his natural body smell.. or maybe it's because he like his rice box (someone said it helps absorbs extra oils?) but they both have minimal smell unless you put them to your face, even then I still like it. Also, I noticed they both have slight "puppy breath" when they wake up and that has always been one of my favorite smells

I would be too worried about side-effects to use this stuff. Plus, my ferts don't smell much at all, what little odor there is doesn't bother me. After all, they flat-out stank in the pet store and I still bought them ;D I thought you guys were full of baloney about the ferrets smelling like corn chips when they are fed raw, but mine are smellin like that now

I used it before I fed raw and it made a HUGE difference, HUGE. But after they switched to raw, they hardly smelled and it didn't do anything anymore- we stopped using it then.

Did you add it to food, or to water? It sounds like it works for kibble-fed ferrets but not raw-fed ferrets. I have heard that the ingredients are some natural amino acids or something like that. Makes me wonder if it works because it adds something that the kibble lacks, without which the poo smells more, but on a raw diet that component isn't missing to begin with. Just an idea

Fearless, I do try to keep fragrancing down in the room; I've always heard that fragrances can jack up their respiratory system. Febreeze and Lysol aren't ideal around pets from what I've heard. I did start using Nature's Miracle, but these guys are in our bedroom for crying out loud. They poop RIGHT at the door. I clean constantly but the smell carries right out.
Also, two of my girls are insulinomic and I still leave dry for them. It's better on EVO but one of them has the most absolutely vile and toxic smelling poo I have ever smelled to come out of a creature. She's so tiny, but they are like little stink bombs! Holy cow!
And Mikeybox, you bet they do smell like cornchips. I was wondering what the heck I had done to their mix this time. Glad I'm not the only one! And I do wonder about the Bi Odor being a supplement... interesting thought...
Otterwoman, did you still notice a difference while transitioning?
I totally get how alot of members don't like the IDEA of it, and I don't either. I'm hoping to see if anyone knows what's in it, how it works, concrete evidence that it is good or bad, etc. Seems like there is not alot really known about it; the product is so mysterious. But like I said, I know my ferrets got used to the taste before and had no problems drinking it. Right now I feed raw soup so they get alot of liquid there; they wouldn't even get much in their system unless they eat dry.

I don't personally spray at all in my house, unless someone stank up the one and only bathroom. The kids (all fur and skin) don't have access to the bathroom.
I hear air purifiers are amazing for smell, I currently only have one, in my bedroom. But I'd like to invest in another one for near the cage.... just where to put it is the issue.

Don't have time right now, but why not just google all the ingredients on the list
