Follow up question for Mentors.

I have been feeding Raw and whole Prey since (off of soup) since July of 2014. 

I have been moving toward mostly whole prey,  Quail, Chicken, Mice, Rats, and Guinea Pigs. 

They only get maybe 2 - 3 meals of bone in, rabbit, game Hen, or duck a week. 

My question is.  I have been feeding only 1 heart and 1 liver meal a week. I came to the conclusion that the whole prey meals were balanced and I only had to make up for the 2 - 3 bone in meals that I have been feeding with heart/liver. 

Do you think that this is the correct amount of liver/heart?  I don't want to short them on anything.

You are correct in just needing to balance the frankenprey meals. If you are only feeding 2-3 meals that are not whole prey, you really don't even need a whole meal each of heart and liver. You could do one meal per week of mixed heart/organ and still have more than enough of each. In fact, I think I would do that meal 1/3 liver and 2/3 heart.

10 x 3 frankenprey meals = .3 meals each of organ and heart
Since they can't have too much heart, I'd do that mixed meal with more heart than liver.

I figured that, I kept up with the Liver and heart to be safe.

I also figured I could skip the "Other Organ" since they are getting that in the whole prey.

My only concern when feeding whole prey is: Is everyone getting a little of everything. Normally the first ferrets to start on a larger food, are done eating before the organs get opened up. I am hoping that they do eventually go back later.

You might want to chop up larger prey items and distribute just to be sure everyone is getting their fair share of the organs.

I chop up the rabbit and guinea pigs. I don't have a large enough business that lives together, so those animals are divided up between the groups.

The whole prey Items I feed are generally small.

Sexually mature Guinea pigs, Chickens, Rats and mice I feed whole

I do cut up and distribute Rabbit innards and such. (I am using 10+ lbs rabbit.)

The Guinea pigs are eaten immediately. Generally they fight over it. And it is random who gets what. (whatever flies out or get torn out gets it)
