Ok After reading on this forum that they are now Available. I emailed the new prospective vet.
I explained to them that my ferrets are a month overdue on their yearly preventative implants.
I also asked what a ball-park estimate of 5 ferrets would cost.
I received a call (went to voice mail) and she told me that the total with exam fee, Implants, anesthetic for the implants. would be just under $900. Just need to give her a deposit so they can order it.
Now I don't know what this Anesthetic is all about. I have never had any of my ferrets get an Anesthetic prior to the implant.
Tax return came just in time.
Anyway. I am actually feeling really good about the price, I don't think it is that bad. puts it at $180 per ferret
So now we will see if we like this vet.
I already pre-interviewed her via email. She also came recommended to me from 2 Oregon ferret shelters.
My pre- interview questions are below.
I am in process of selecting a vet for my 5 Ferrets. They were previously seen By Dr. Gandolfi in California.
I have some questions.
*Do you do Distemper Titers?
*Do you support a Raw Fed Diet?
What Percentage of Clients seen are ferrets? (I know there is not many in the area)
Her answers
Thank you for your inquiries. I have spoken with Dr Alice Sievers. She knows Dr Gandolfi well, having attended several lectures and continuing education events in which he was a featured speaker.
*Do you do Distemper Titers? We do, but as there is currently no distemper vaccine available, there are not a lot of options available if it is low.
*Do you support a Raw Fed Diet? Yes, in ferrets. This is one of the few species in which she would support raw diet.
What Percentage of Clients seen are ferrets? (I know there is not many in the area) We do not have an exact percentage, but we see ferrets from northern California, the coast, and the Rogue Valley. She has also done extensive work with the Oregon Ferret Shelter
